Frank Turner just flat out eviscerates John Lennon's "Imagine."
From the InterviewYes, but thatís one of the things thatís so fucking annoying about it. Compared to, say, ďThe Times They Are A-Changiní,Ē or indeed anything by Crass or The Clash or Propagandhi, itís so utterly vacuous. Itís a Hallmark card set to music. Thereís a pretty high dose of hypocrisy in here as well. For a man who had a dedicated, refrigerated room in his New York penthouse apartment for storing his fur-coat collection to sing ďImagine no possessionsĒ takes a fair amount of chutzpah. I mean, I have no problem with the man collecting fur coats. Whatever floats your boat. But thereís a certain strain of material...

Frank Turner has begun work on the new album.
From the Blog Weíre now back here for the whole of this month to make the record. We are working with the amazing Rich Costey (thatís the reason we arenít recording in England, incidentally; Iíve wanted to work with Rich for a long time). Itís exciting and daunting in equal measure. Iím pretty confident in the songs I have this time around, and I really feel like this is an opportunity to work on being a recording artist, using the studio as a proper tool. Or something like that. Time will, of course, tell, but Iím putting my bets down now on this being a good one.

Frank Turner recently sat down to talk about the state of music and his future plans.
From the InterviewOne of the good things about the internetÖthe internet is a fact. So, I think itís sort of like getting overexcited about downloading being a terrible thing. Itís just a waste of time, because it just is. So, you deal with it, you know what I mean? But one of the interesting things about music is that I think music is a lot less monolithic. Prior to the internet being around, I can remember from when I was a kid, basically in the UK, if you got Radio One and NME on your side, youíre huge. Thatís it. And I remember when I was a kid, I used to get like No Idea records catalogs and...

Frank Turner will be releasing a book titled Photosynthesis documenting life on the road.
From the BlogMatt Nasir (of the Sleeping Souls) and I have been working on a book of behind-the-scenes photography. I say ďweĒ have been working on it, but itís mostly his blood, sweat and tears here. Matt has been carrying a camera around backstage with us on tour around the world for the last few years and constantly snapping away. In the process he has captured not only some truly stunning individual shots, but also a pretty unique and intimate portrait of what itís like to be on tour with me and my band. Iíve written up a lot of text to explain the story and contextualize everything.

The book...

Looks like we'll get a new album from Frank Turner in 2013.
From the InterviewYeah, well, Iíve got a ton of songs hanging around right now in various different levels of finished-ness, and I found some gaps in my schedule to go into the studio and Iím not the kind to be sitting around and waiting. Iíve got more than enough songs for one record but Iím trying to get another whole pile finished to have a large selection to choose from and put the best ones on the record. Realistically the new record will probably be out in January of next year. Iím excited about this new record, I think the songs are better than the ones that came before and thatís always a good feeling.

Frank Turner has updated the world on his plans for the upcoming hardcore side project.
Message from FrankItís something Iíve been thinking about doing for a long time, but it took a while to figure out the right way to do it. Now we have a line-up and weíve been in the rehearsal room as a bunch, writing songs. Still no band name as of yet. Haha. Itís noisy, tongue-in-cheek, aggressive, abrasive stuff. Itís a side project, so it takes back seat priority-wise, which means Iím not sure when weíll have time to record anything or get some music released, but itís a lot closer to being a real band right now than it has been previously.
