New York Magazine has written an extensive piece about Grizzly Bear and how being a hit indie rock band does not translate into making lots of money.
From the ArticlePeople probably have an inflated idea of what we make. Bands appear so much bigger than they really are now, because no one’s buying records. But they’ll go to giant shows... Obviously we’re surviving. Some of us have health insurance, some of us don’t, we basically all live in the same places, no one’s renting private jets. Come to your own conclusions.

My interview with Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear can be found here.
QuoteIt was so fun to do something like that. If you have an opportunity to put music out there that you feel happy and you feel behind, you should do it. It's not really McDonald's. It's a vampire movie with Mormon undertones. I don't really see anything wrong with it.

Jay-Z has voiced his support of the indie rock movement, particularly Grizzly Bear.
From the article"They're an incredible band," he said. "The thing I want to say to everyone — I hope this happens because it will push rap, it will push hip-hop to go even further — what the indie-rock movement is doing right now is very inspiring. It felt like us in the beginning. These concerts, they're not on the radio, no one hears about them, and there's 12,000 people in attendance. And the music that they're making and the connection they're making to people is really inspiring. So, I hope that they have a run where they push hip-hop back a little bit, so it will force hip-hop to fight to make...
