We've already featured Braid in the Weekly Nostalgia spotlight, and it's about time we showcase Bob Nanna's post-Braid band. Hey Mercedes would blend Braid's emo-rock passion with a touch of powerpop melody and accessibility. Their short run, spanning roughly five years, spawned three EP's and two well-loved full-lengths. 2001's Everynight Fire Works found the band navigating the delicate balance of earnestness and catharsis, while 2003's Loses Control went in a slightly more immediate direction, with what seemed like an added focus on catchy supercharged riffs, though its songs remained equally powerful. Hey Mercedes will return (once again) for the Double Door 15 Year Anniversary Show in Chicago on Sept. 19th. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, June 6th.

Hi everyone!! We’ve worked out a deal to help accommodate fans who might be planning to travel a fair distance to the 9/14 show in Chicago. Due to the nature of this being a FREE show held in conjunction with THREADLESS, fans will have to first visit the new Threadless retail store in Chicago to pick up their free ticket. We realize that this can be a hassle to anyone who isn’t from Chicago or surrounding areas, so we’ve set up a system where out of town fans can avoid going to the store. Here is the deal:
