Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit) has a new project called Andy Jackson and The Mary Tyler Mormons. The group's self-titled album will be released through JMB Records on February 18th, and also available on the "Where's The Band Tour" with Matt Pryor and Chris Conley.

Connecticut pop-punk act The Tired And True are releasing a live cassette tape later this month. In addition to nine original songs, the album also includes a rendition of Hot Rod Circuit's "At Nature's Mercy." You can stream the cover in the replies. The hand-numbered tape is available for pre-order (with digital download) from Broken Rim Records.

Back when Andy Jackson of Hot Rod Circuit got married, Say Anything frontman Max Bemis gifted him with a cover of the band's "At Nature's Mercy." The parties have agreed to share the track with fans as a bonus track on the vinyl re-issue of Hot Rod Circuit's 2007 album, The Underground Is A Dying Breed. You can listen to the cover right now in the replies, and then order a copy of the record when they go on sale today at 1:30 from Enjoy the Ride Records. Thunderbeard Records will also have their own variant.

Hot Rod Circuit has announced eight tour dates in November. Run For Cover Records will release a 7" vinyl EP including the new song "Forgive Me," another new song, and a cover of Superdrag's "Sucked Out." The limited pressing of 1000 copies will only be available at shows on the tour and via Run For Cover's site. You can view all of the details in the replies.

A new band called Davy and the Gods, consisting of Chris Gaylor from All-American Rejects, Andy Jackson from Hot Rod Circuit, Tommy Simms and Ryan Metacalf from Automatic Loveletter, and others has formed. They will release their first EP in the not too distant future.

In a new interview, Andy Jackson confirms that Hot Rod Circuit will be playing east and west coast shows in the fall, will be releasing an old song featuring Chris Carrabba on vocals, and will continue to write in the future.
InterviewWe have two tracks that are unreleased: On one, Jay Russell, the bass player, sang the verses and then me and Chris Carrabba sang the choruses. Itís from Realityís Coming Through and itís probably the best song that would have been on the record.

InterviewWe will be announcing a new Facebook and have some news that we'll be announcing at KrazyFest. That's all I can say for now. We are not officially back together. We are friends and we're going to continue playing music and writing and we will be recording some new music. That's pretty much all I can say at this time.

These bands we look back on with fond memories, it seems most of them lasted only a few short years and left behind scant discographies. Perhaps having an all-too-short career adds to the mystique and makes a band an obvious subject for a feature like this. However, for proof that a band can hang around for a decade, produce five excellent albums and still leave us wanting more, enter Hot Rod Circuit. Their early records were filled with angsty guitar rock, perfect for bespectacled teens into Weezer, Piebald and The Get Up Kids.
