The second lineup announcement from Fest 13 is in and (take a deep breath) Hot Water Music, Touché Amoré, Masked Intruder, Ben Nichols, Modern Baseball, Pianos Become The Teeth, a Spraynard reunion and more have been added to the lineup...adding to Descendents, Lifetime, Less Than Jake, Strike Anywhere, The Menzingers, Chuck Ragan, Banner Pilot, the Hotelier, Into It. Over It., a We Are The Union reunion and more. Here is the first announcement in case you missed it. Check out the full update in the replies (there are 200 bands so far!) and remember that tickets for Fest 13 (Oct. 31 - Nov. 2) and Pre-Fest in Little Ybor 2 (Oct. 29-30), along with hotels, go on sale this Sunday.
Hot Water Music's Jason Black (bass), former HWM tour manager Neltie Penman (vocals), Primitive Weapons' Arty Shepherd (guitars), Small Brown Bike's Jeff Gensterblum (drums) and Matt Kane (guitars) have combined to form a new band called UnWed. They will play their first show with Have Mercy and Gates in Brooklyn this weekend, on Dec. 8 at Saint Vitus. At the show, they'll have a super-limited version of their debut two-song 7", which will come out officially early next year via No Idea Records. There is a teaser video in the replies.
Hot Water Music will be playing 5 shows in the NorthEast US for the holidays. Torche and O'Brother will be joining as well. Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 18th at 10am and you can find all the dates and details in the replies.
Hot Water Music will be heading out on its first headline tour in 8 years in early 2013, and the band is taking The Menzingers and La Dispute along for the ride. You can find pre-order details here and tour dates in the replies.
Although they weren't noted in the chart we posted earlier, SoundScan is reporting in its official counts that Hot Water Music sold just over 10,000 copies in first-week sales of Exister, their first record in eight years - good for an opening at the No. 33 position on the charts. Congratulations to the band and to Rise Records.
Riley (Thrice) and Ian from Kowloon Walled City have a (mostly) baseball-related podcast that they've been doing for a couple of months. This week the guest was Jason Black of Hot Water Music, they chatted a bit about their reunion, their new record Exister, and his Braves fandom. Check it out here.
