I Fight Dragons have successfully funded their next record via Kickstarter, raising $115,052 - their original goal was $20,000. The record will be named The Near Future.

I Fight Dragons have raised $50,000 in 36 hours to fund their new album/vinyl release via Kickstarter. As a result, they have added additional "stretch goals" - whenever the campaign reaches a new milestone, backers will receive additional rewards for their original contributions. For example, the $20/double gatefold w/ companion graphic novel has become a triple gatefold w/ companion graphic novel, fold-out poster, fluorescent blue vinyl, a 7" picture disc shaped like an 8-bit fireball, and an exclusive flexi-disc with a thank you and secret music.

Brian of I Fight Dragons has posted an interesting video of how painful and enduring the music industry can be at times. The video showcases a song that he wrote entitled "Lies In Stereo" which then, wasn't up to their label's standards. So throughout a year and a half, the label brought in 7.5 different writers and Brian recorded over 18 versions of the song, just so the song could never see the light of day. Last week, I Fight Dragons released their "Save World Get Girl" music video on the Nintendo 3DS. Check it out in 2D via the replies - it's hysterical.

When you're a hybrid Pop-Rock/Chiptune band like I Fight Dragons, there's a certain fun to be had in performing "acoustic" renditions. The band was up to the challenge, showing off their infinite coolness with a (mostly) acoustic version of "cRaZie$" in our latest Backstage Session. It'll likely be the first acoustic sesh you've seen featuring Guitar Hero controllers, a Rock Band drum kit, and a Power Pad. Catch the band on Warped Tour this summer, and check the video in the replies. The band's got more in common with Motion City Soundtrack or The Starting Line than Game Boys.

I Fight Dragons will release Kaboom! on October 24 via Photo Finish Records. You can stream a new track entitled "cRaZie$" on their AP.net profile. The Chicago-based group plays fun pop rock that utilizes Nintendo 8-bit sounds. Now you're playing with power!
