Conor Oberst has filed a libel lawsuit against a woman who wrote in online posts that she was sexually assaulted by the singer-songwriter.
Oberst's lawsuit says the woman posted accusations that Oberst raped her a decade ago in North Carolina after his brother, her middle school English teacher, introduced the two at an Oberst show. The lawsuit says she also claimed Oberst punched her in the face and that she was 16 at the time. He says the media coverage that resulted from the three posts in the comments section of a blog has damaged his career, especially in New York where most of the major music publishing houses are headquartered. Conor Oberst has announced a new solo album Upside Down Mountain, slated for release May 20th via Nonesuch. You can listen to the first single "Hundreds of Ways" in the replies.

Trigger warning: Sexual assault descriptions. An accusation has begun making the rounds of the internet after it was picked up from the comments of one post and then posted to Tumblr. From there it's been growing. The accusation is one of rape, ten years ago, by Conor Oberst. It now appears that the original poster has created a blog and posted more information about how and why this came out where and as it did. She has also been answering/responding to a few questions as well.

Bright Eyes released their highly anticipated album The People's Key yesterday, which many of you probably picked up already. However, if you haven't yet, you can now listen to the entire album on their AP.net profile. This is as intimate as you'd expect from Bright Eyes, and Conor sounds like Bob Dylan as much as ever. Jokes aside, this is yet another great record by him, so go take a listen and let us know what you think.
