Hardcore punk group Cunter released 27 this past Tuesday through New Damage Records and we caught up with vocalist Erik Hughes for an interview. We discuss the new release in detail, but we also talk about the future of his other band, which happens to be Moneen. Check it out here.
We just have a lot of fun with it, itís like an opposite band because with Moneen we really analyzed every part of the music and picked it apart, tried different ways. With Cunter we just let it rip. All intensity, all the time, thatís our motto.
Things at the Moneen camp appear to be slowly getting active again. Kenny tweeted "things are happening" a few days ago, and now it has been announced that the band are playing an acoustic set at the "My Friends Over You" one-year anniversary party in Toronto. He also shared that The Red Tree would be repressed with a bonus 7" for Record Store Day.
Engineer Records recently released Unity: A Benefit For The Children Of The Japanese Tsunami Disaster. The digital benefit compilation features exclusive tracks by The Gaslight Anthem, Moneen and Brian Southall, among others. You can stream the album and purchase the release here.
I attended Moneen's headlining Canadian tour featuring Sights & Sounds and Passenger Action last night in Winnipeg. You can read my review here. Did you go to the previous shows? Are you planning on attending the remaining dates?
Update: The chat is now over. Much thanks to Kenny for participating in the chat and staying for so long. The World I Want to Leave Behind is now in stores; get it!
Kenny from .moneen. will be chatting in this thread at approximately 7 p.m. ET. Come on in and discuss just how exactly the band's name should be spelled, their upcoming The World I Want to Leave Behind, or just say hello.
Moneen fans rejoice, you can now stream the band's latest adventure of an album in entirety on their AP.net Profile. The World I Want To Leave Behind is twelve tracks of roller-coaster dynamics that see the band pushing their sound further than ever without losing the appealing spontaneity that defines them. As you'd expect from a Moneen record, this one begs for another listen... and another, and another.
