Blender has named their list of music's worst lyricists, which somehow finds Sting at number 1, Creed frontman Scott Stapp at number 3, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at number 4, and Paul McCartney at number 38.
Attention all bands and labels: The time has come again. The year 2006 is drawing to a close and it's time for Absolutepunk to start compiling our "Best of 2006" lists. We're asking you all to submit to us your top 10 CDs of 2006. You can e-mail the lists to Melissa Johnson or Gabe Gross. You can do a collective list amongst the band or label or each submit your own individual lists. Please include band/label name and your name (if you choose to contribute an individual list). We're getting a headstart on this due to the response we got to last year's Best of 2005 lists, but the deadline to submit a list to Gabe or Melissa is December 17th, 2006.
Hit List, which features 17 of Unwritten Law's greatest hits (re-recorded), plus two brand new studio tracks, will hit stores on September 26, 2006. The process of selecting Hit List's hit list was simple: whatever fans requested the most vociferously at shows made the cut. Hence, the comp is a love letter of Unwritten Law's favorite dysfunctional valentines, starting with three tracks from feral early efforts Blue Room and Oz Factor, including the inexplicably beloved "Superman." The remainder of List is comprised of tracks from 1998's Unwritten Law (a.k.a. the "black record"), 2002's Elva, and 2005's Here's to the Mourning, albums which documented Unwritten Law's evolution from...
Motion City Soundtrack is allowing the fans to vote for songs they would like them to play at Warped Tour. To vote you simply visit Atticus Clothing's MySpace page and reply to their blog with which Warped Tour date you are going to and what songs you want the band to play.

Lifetime's new double disc, Somewhere In The Swamps Of Jersey, is now available for pre-order. This set collects the band's early singles, compilation tracks, covers, demos, live stuff and two versions of the debut record, Background! Members of the band later formed Kid Dynamite, Paint It Black, Zero Zero, and Deadguy. They've "influenced every band you love."
