The BBC is reporting that Ian Watkins' potential prison move is drawing criticism in the UK.
Jon Bird, operations manager at The National Association for People Abused in Childhood, said it was "disturbing that there are serious sex offenders who are able to mix with their own kind". Mr Bird added there was a "real concern" about whether Watkins was co-operating fully with his sex offenders treatment and had admitted to the seriousness of his crimes.

NME is reporting that Ian Watkins' ex-girlfriend was found not guilty of possessing and distributing indecent images of children.
Joanne Mkadzelics, 39, from Doncaster, had denied seven charges of possessing and distributing indecent images at Cardiff Crown Court earlier this week. Mkadzelics claimed that she encouraged Watkins to send her pictures and subsequently kept them so that she could expose him.

NME is reporting that Ian Watkins will receive "a 147,000 pay-out upon his release from prison following the sale of a touring company he co-owned with his former bandmates."

The Guardian profiles No Devotion and the struggle to move on from Lostprophets' infamy.
"A day before the charges went public, we heard he'd been arrested and immediately we knew the band was over," Richardson says. "The next morning, we started reading tweets about what he tried to do. And we couldn't believe it." Every member except Watkins has children Richardson's young daughter knew the singer as Uncle Ian which, they say, made the betrayal worse. Both he and Gaze say they'll never listen to the music again. "I can't," Gaze says. "It's tainted, because he was the voice of the band, and it was his lyrics."

In this week's edition of The Sunday Times, ex-Lostprophets guitarists Lee Gaze and Mike Lewis have broken their silence over the Ian Watkins scandal. If you're not registered for The Sunday Times, some excerpts can be found on The PRP.
"Obviously what's gone on with these children far supersedes what's happened to us," concludes Gaze. "We're strong enough to get back on our feet and carry on doing whatever we want to do, but there are children who are going to grow up without parents and that makes us incredibly sad."

Check the replies for a good audio interview with Geoff Rickley, of Thursday fame, where he addresses a lot of things ... including the rumors that he'll be working with the remaining members of the now defunt Lostprophets. Also in the interview it's revealed that Geoff has decided to really buckle down on his label now that he was able to secure some financing from an investor. They have a Saves the Day 7", Touche Amore 7", and Title Fight 7" all on deck. It's a good listen and definitely worth the time.

Ian Watkins (Lostprophets) has applied to appeal the length of his prision sentence.
Paedophile rock star Ian Watkins is seeking leave to appeal against the length of his jail term for child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby.
Jason Tate on 01/23/14 - 11:23 AM
Ex-Lostprophets singer, Ian Watkins, faced his sentencing for child sex offences today and received 35 years imprisonment from Cardiff Crown Court. To make things even more grim, it has now been revealed that after admitting to the offences last month, Watkins has made phone calls from prison describing the events as "megalolz" and that he "didn't know what everyone was getting so freaked out about". Read full details of the sentencing here and live updates from the proceedings here.
On November 27, the day after he admitted he was a paedophile, he said of the court hearing: "It was, like, either me go up there and say 'Come on, it wasn't that bad, nobody got hurt', I do my charm. Or do...

A music lawyer estimates that Ian Watkins has probably made upwards of 100k ($163,040) since his arrest ... off of publishing royalties. This makes me irrationally angry.
His notoriety and renewed publicity when he is sentenced could even cause a cash generation spike as music sales and internet searches rise. Music lawyer Craig Brookes explained that as the band's lyricist, Watkins will be in line for a big cut of any fees generated. 'The biggest income stream will almost certainly be publishing which, even if radio play has stopped, will still be pretty big,' he told Wales on Sunday.

The other members of Lostprophets have released a statement after the legal events of last week.
Earlier this week, we learned that the allegations of child sexual abuse against Ian were true, and that he would not be contesting them in court. Until then, we found them extremely difficult to believe and had hoped it was all a mistake. Sadly, the true extent of his appalling behaviour is now impossible to deny.

Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not. We knew that Ian was a difficult character. Our personal relationships with him had deteriorated in recent years to a point that working together was a constant, miserable challenge....

The Guardian have run an interesting article about what happens when the sins of an artist are so great that they negate their art. Many arguments have been had in these forums about if someone's ego or sexism or lack of releasing their dvd or just general douchebaggery is enough to lose fans and negate the music they release -- but the pure evil of Ian Watkin's has taken this debate to a whole new level.
In fact, our cultural life is replete with art made by those whose personal lives bear little scrutiny. In the Nazi corner alone, we have the film-maker Leni Riefenstahl, the poet Ezra Pound and the philosopher Martin Heidegger, none of whom have been "decanonised", despite critical...

After Lostprophets' vocalist Ian Watkins was charged with several accounts of child sex offences and previously "furiously denying" the charges earlier in the year, he has now plead guilty to the majority of offences.

Update: More detailed (and distressing) updates on the charges heard in court have been added to the BBC News page.

Update #2: ITV News reporter, Rupert Evelyn, is currently live tweeting the court proceedings. Be warned, although he is "heavily editing" the details, it makes for an incredibly unsettling read.

Lostprophets have broken up.
After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been.

Ian Watkins (Lostprophets) released a statement in regard to his latest court hearing.
Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time.
