Manchester Orchestra recently covered Faces' "Ooh La La" for the AV Club.
Andy Hull added some extra pathos by stripping things way back and sweetening up the "ooh la la"s. Manchester Orchestra's latest is 2011's Simple Math, and they're currently working on a follow-up.

PropertyOfZack has published a pretty massive interview with Kevin Devine and Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra), which can read here. They discussed upcoming RSD releases, the recording schedules for each band, and more.
KD: Well theyíre notÖ The Jesse one is a rock record and itís like a ROCK record. More than anything Iíve ever worked on so far.
AH: Yeah itís bloodthirsty. Sick. It is. Iíve only heard really bad sounding demos, but itís a version of Kevin. Itís a version of him thatís kind of this punky, bloodthirsty, loud rock thing. And you can hear the Jesse influence. Thereís this section that goes to half time in one of these songs that I really like. It was totally a momment...

Manchester Orchestra bassist Jonathan Corley has left the band.
Another time for change has come in the life of Manchester Orchestra. Our dear friend and bassist Jonathan Corley has made the decision to part ways with the band and pursue another career outside of playing music. This was a very obviously a very difficult decision but J is our eternal brother and we wish him the absolute best. There is no doubt that he will find success in any area he pursues. He will remain a part of the Manchester Orchestra family forever and there is no way we can thank him enough for the time he has spent with us over the last 9 years.

Please see below for a message from J.

After much...

Manchester Orchestra posted up a blog about their 1/2 of the upcoming split with Thrice.
Message from AndyPEOPLE! it's andy. i wanted to take a minute and thank you for the response the last few days to the news about some "new" music. we are so stoked to get this thing officially out into the world, even if there are only a couple hundred copies available. the story behind the making of our half of this record is a pretty cool one. i thought i would share with you the history behind why we decided to record what is undeniably THE BEST 14 minute stoner-rock version of "Don't Speak" by No Doubt to ever exist.

when manchester was writing mean everything to nothing i was in the middle...

For months now, Iíve looked forward to spending time on the road with each of bands. Charlotte natives Junior Astronomers turn heads immediately every night by unleashing their own energetic and intricate indie pop songs. Itís truly been a pleasure to spend time with every band/crew member.

I canít begin to explain how much I appreciate the continued support from devoted fans all across this...

Update: The band will not be changing their name. - DB

Manchester Orchestra revealed in a new interview that they have left Columbia Records and will most likely release their next album under a different band name.
From the Interview We are no longer with Columbia. We released our final record through them. It would just be through Favorite Gentlemen and maybe some other imprint. I donít think itíll be under the name Manchester though. I want to try to do something like Sgt. Peppers. Not musically, but those dudes made those records under the pretense of a different band. They became this other band and it allowed their creative ability to go wherever they wanted because they werenít...
