Maniac is dropping off of its support slot on the Tabernacle Tour this summer, which is being headlined by Foxy Shazam, due to a lack of funds. The group has posted about what it will be doing this summer instead.
From the Post With an unexpected free summer, Jake is going to return home to Sydney to finish a long-awaited new Numbers record, and we're going to return to original form-- writing the remainder of Sons of Summer via gchat, as we began this cross-continental project a couple years back. To be honest, it seems counter-intuitive, but the challenge of a Pacific Ocean between us is inspiring. Post-summer, when next we record, we will give you all the best Maniac music to date.

Maniac have already released one of my personal favorite albums of 2011 and now they're already back to work. Shawn and Jake are releasing four EPs that will eventually form their second album, Sons of Summer. The first fourth of the album has been shipped out to their loyal fans and until today, they have only heard those songs. Today, we're bringing you an exclusive listen at another track titled "Is She Black." You can either stream it in the replies or on their AP.net profile. Be sure to check out their webstore as well. All purchases go towards the funding for more music. The more you support, the more you get back!

Maniac are giving you the opportunity to have your own personalized song.
Quote"We are giving you the opportunity to have your name in a Maniac song. Shawn and Jake will sing your name in the chorus of one of their new songs. You will have your own personalized Maniac song. This can also be a song for your girlfriend, mom or dog. Feel free to specify specifics."

Maniac have hit the road in a unique way - with just their instruments and the clothes on their back. From now until May 18th, the band is touring the States by hitchhiking, relying on the people they meet along the way for food and shelter. If you would like to donate to them or offer them a place to stay, you can contact emily@ediphotoeye.com or help them out by purchasing a new track on bandcamp. Hit the replies for more info.

Shawn Harris recently answered some questions about his new project Maniac.
QuoteWe push one another over limits, and that is what our collaboration has been all about. When Jake is in left brain mode, my right switches on, and vice-versa.

edit: I changed the quote because it was being misinterpreted.
