Read our write up of the 3/23 Austin stop of La Dispute's "Rooms of the House" Tour with Pianos Become The Teeth and Mansions.
For the first time, I’m actually having a fairly hard time describing exactly what made this night and show so intense for me – aside form just the nature and content of the music, that is. Maybe it was the weather. Maybe it was that my hoodie wasn’t quite warm enough. Maybe it’s because I was at the show alone, which is rare. Whatever the reason, everything added up and the intensity and show just clicked. No matter what band you’re a fan of or what album or song catches your ear most, definitely go see this show if it comes near you.

"I remember it so well - watching you shifting your weight, turning the page. I can see it all there."

Mansions' New Best Friends turned five yesterday, and Chris Browder from the band has written an emotionally heavy blog to remark the past few years since its release. In addition, the reissue of the album with an accompanying 7” is now on sale via Bad Timing Records.

Mansions’ debut full-length, New Best Friends – which is 5 years old today – is being reissued via Bad Timing Records with alternative artwork designed by frontman Chris Browder. The label is also releasing a never-before-pressed 7” with “The Biggest Lie” and “Tangerine,” two songs that came on a promo EP before NBF’s original release. The release date is tomorrow, March 4, and copies will go on sale at 1pm EST tomorrow as well. The vinyl is limited to 500 units – it’s long been out of print – with 300 on “dirty snow” (white with black color-in-color, see the photo) and 200 on black with white haze.

In an interview with Christopher of Mansions, he states that the split with John Nolan of Taking Back Sunday will have more news soon and both songs for the split are done.
In This InterviewI don’t want to say too much, but I think there’s going to be news on that soon. He did his song a couple months ago, and then it was waiting on me to finish mine, and we recorded ours at the beginning of April, and I’m finishing up the mix right now. You should be hearing about that soon.
