The live stream of Matador 21: The Lost Music Festival on Myspace Music has updated the bands they are showing. They are also now airing Sonic Youth, Cat Power, Girls, Superchunk and Liz Phair. Myspace Music will be exclusively streaming "Matador 21: The Lost Weekend" live from October 1st-3rd. The festival will see performances from the likes of Pavement, Guided By Voices, Fucked Up and many more. Head to the replies for the band list and times.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a few top indie labels, including Vice, Matador, and Sub Pop, are teaming up to release a series of compilations in the vein of the extremely popular Now That's What I Call Music line. The compilations will feature bands such as Bloc Party, The Shins, and Cold War Kids.
Matador Records has signed Shearwater out of Austin, Texas. The band features two members of Okkervil River (Will Sheff and Jonathan Meiburg) who originally used Shearwater as an outlet for some of their softer music. Matador Records will be releasing a double-disc version of Palo Santo (initially released last year) on April 10th with five re-recorded versions of songs done in December 2006 along with new art and re-mastering. The second disc also comes with Palo Santo demos.
Times New Viking, who signed to Matador Records this past winter, have announced tour dates for this March that hits mostly the Eastern side of America, including a stop at SXSW. All of the dates will be with Clockcleaner.
Matador Records has signed Times New Viking out of Columbus, Ohio. The band released their debut album Dig Yourself on Siltbreeze last year and will be releasing their sophomore album, Present The Paisley Reich, in February on the same label and then afterwards will be working on an album for Matador.
