Metallica's 3D film, Metallica Through the Never, will be playing in IMAX theaters on September 27th, followed by an expanded release on October 4th.
The film marries groundbreaking footage and editing techniques with a compelling narrative, in which a band crew member (played by Dane DeHaan) is sent out on a mission during Metallica's roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena. While on this mission, he unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down.
Metallica have announced the line-up for the second annual Orion Music + More Festival. Performers include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and more. The event will take place at Belle Isle in Detroit, MI on June 8 and 9. Full details can be found in the replies.
Metallica will release a live DVD/Blu-ray entitled Quebec Magnetic on December 10th through their own label. The tracklisting can be found in the replies.
Metallica are developing a 3D movie, which is described as "a marriage of narrative and concert." Nimród Antal, director of the recent Predators, has signed on to helm the film, with Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth) producing. Shooting begins in August with the aim for a summer 2013 release.

Sean Parker-Timberlake (Napster founder) is rumored to be in talks to buy Warner Music Group, who also happens to be Metallica's record label. Oh, the irony.
VH1's classic Behind The Music series makes a return as Behind The Music Remastered, which updates the artists' stories over the past 10 to 15 years. The first episode, focusing on Metallica, airs Saturday at 10pm on VH1 Classic.
Fuse has posted a 40 minute video compiling all the highlights (performance, Flea's induction speech, band acceptance speech, etc.) from Metallica's recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
