Legendary composer Ennio Morricone has asked Morrissey to "sing and supply words" for a piece that will be presented at New York's Carnegie Hall on an as-yet-unannounced date. Morricone previously supplied string arrangements for "Dear God Please Help Me," a track on Morrissey's latest album.

Morrissey was apparently questioned by FBI and British Intelligence after speaking out against the American and British governments. The singer is a famous critic of the US-led war in Iraq, and has dubbed President George W. Bush a "terrorist" -- but he was baffled to be hauled in by authorities.

Morrissey has already started announcing tour dates in support of his forthcoming album, Ringleader of the Tormentors, which will see release across the pond on April 3rd and hopefully a day later here in the states.

The 12-track set was produced by Tony Visconti and recorded in Rome, references to which appear in a number of songs. In a question and answer session for the Morrissey fansite, True-to-you.net, the Mozfather said that his upcoming Ringleader of the Tormentors doesn’t build on his previous work. “It is not a continuation of You Are the Quarry,” he said, “and it has no links to the past.”
