Much the Same will be playing a reunion show to give "the proper farewell show to their fans that never happened" on March 26th at Reggie's Rock Club.

With a name like Much the Same, it's no coincidence. The young melodic punk quartet were not creating anything new - just keeping a then-fossilized genre alive & well, tending to it like a beautiful war nurse to a wounded veteran. This group of Chicago kids only released three records in 8 years, but found a very loyal and steady following, even well after their demise in 2007. Their 2006 full-length Survive is on par with any solid effort from A Wilhelm Scream or Rise Against, and helped pave the way for modern up-and-comers, such as the Swellers and Transit. Their impact might seem, in retrospect, rather infantile - but it's hard to argue with the measure felt by their aftershocks....

Much the Same has called it a day.

Much the Same vocalist Chris "Gunner" McGrath has parted ways with the group.

After 8 years,Chris ( a.k.a Gunner) Mcgrath has decided to leave Much The Same. This decision is something that everyone agreed was the best for himself and the band. This however, by no means is the end of our band. We are still heading to Canada with our good friend, Rod (who will also be playing the Only Crime/No Trigger dates.) He also plays bass for the Chicago band Counterpunch, and we thank them for letting us borrow him. Soon after that we are looking forward to writing a new record that we feel will truly reflect who we are and where we are going. We don't plan on having any open tryouts...

Much the Same have had a van accident and will be dropping off their tour for as long as it takes to get a new one. All the details are below, and the band is asking for donations to help get them back on the road.

Thursday afternoon, while driving west on I-90 on the way to Seattle, we lost control of our van and trailer and ran off the road. The trailer hit a tree and ripped part of the frame from our van, which then slid on two wheels head on into another tree, which then spun us around and flipped the van on its side.
