A variety of albums come out today - however, there's one that has been dominating my playlist for the past few weeks. It comes from a relatively new band known as Paper Route. The album is head-to-toe layered pop music that seems to be right in line with my tastes as of late. Thoughtful arrangements, good lyrics, haunting vocals - definitely made me a fan on first listen. Recommended if you like Mute Math, Snow...[read more]
Manchester Orchestra's new album is in stores today. And if I haven't already done enough to try and convince you that you should go pick it up -- well, let me give it another shot. The user consensus on the album is above 90%, the staff consensus is above 90%, almost everyone that's heard the album gives it rave reviews ... not very often do the stars...[read more]
Unless you've been living under a rock - you've probably noticed the explosion of the "next big thing" in the social web: Twitter. However, instead of a website being built around profiles ... this one is built around the daily lives/micro-blogs of the users. It's a fascinating concept (regardless of your love or hate for the platform). One of the reasons for the site's popularity has been that some of the early...[read more]
Whenever someone asks you who your favorite band is, it's always a pain in the ass - right? After years of being asked that question, I finally started asking if they wanted my all-time-favorites or my current favorite. I've had to compartmentalize these two dueling factions for my own sanity. Anyway, story time aside -- if someone were to ask me right now? I'd answer without hesitation that my current favorite band is The...[read more]
If you've been following my blog, you know that I am currently in the middle of a "re-thinking" of how AP.net looks and works. For this week's "soapbox" feature ... I want to ask you, the user, your thoughts on a few things. User feedback is obviously very important to me and how the website reacts to your needs. So, if you could take a few minutes to read through the questions below and answer any you have...[read more]
Well, the new New Found Glory album is in stores today - so it seemed like a perfect time to get on my soapbox and try and convince you that you should be getting to your local store and picking it up. In case you didn't notice the website is all pimped out for the release ... and Joe's stellar review gives the album high marks all around. The band...[read more]
For this week I'm going to highlight an album that is finally getting a physical release: House Of Heroes' The End is Not the End. If you haven't taken some time to check out this band yet -- do it -- it's in stores today. They may be the best pop band not getting any love from the masses. We needa change that. They play technically interesting pop tunes that hardly ever end where they start. If you're into bands...[read more]
Starting today we're going to be trying out a new feature on Tuesdays. Basically it's going to be a day for me to highlight an album, artist, or whatever I feel like for a day and get reactions and responses from all of you. At the moment I'm going to call it "My Soapbox" - but if we ever come up with a better name, it'll be changed.
For the first feature we're going to highlight: read more]
