The A.V. Club is in the midst of running through its busy "end of the year" coverage for 2013, and we recently got the chance to speak with Josh Modell, the site's Editor-in-Chief, and Kyle Ryan, its Editor, about their "23 best albums of 2013" list. Over the course of the interview, we talked about the year's best records, how the A.V. Club tabulates its year-end lists, whether or not it's currently cool to like Drake or Fall Out Boy, and a plethora of other musical minutia. Read the interview here.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the class of 2014, and the list is a rather illustrious one. Nirvana, The Replacements, Peter Gabriel, and KISS, as well as Cat Stevens, N.W.A., Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt, Yes, LL Cool J, Chic, Deep Purple, The Zombies, The Meters, Link Wray, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, are all up for induction.

The top five vote-getters will be inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next April, and like last year, the public can vote for their favorites with a "fan ballot" at RollingStone.com. I wonder if Nirvana will make it.

My pal Blake Morgan, known musically by his stage name Esto, is making a record about our home state of Michigan. The music is great, classy folk-pop stuff with some world music influences, jazzy grooves, and orchestral arrangements thrown in for good measure. You can help fund the record here.
