There's something about the last year that has grappled me back into my "heavy" diet I weened off of some years back. With bands like Code Orange Kids, MilanKu and Full of Hell entering my life - I've definitely enjoyed the more sinister, unnerving and angrier side of music in 2012. Then there's Mountain Man's upcoming record. Two is unforgiving. From the opening beat down of "Home is a concept" to the closing exhaustion of "Take out the sun" (one of the best tracks of 2012), Mountain Man stake a claim in this decade's competition of tearing down walls and walls of inner ear structures. It's angry, violent and shows little to no remorse - everything a good hardcore record should be. It...

We're very excited to premiere a brand new song from one of No Sleep Records' recent signings, Lowtalker. They'll be releasing their No Sleep debut EP, The Marathon, on September 18th, and you can check out the artwork, track listing, and opening track "Tension" in the replies. After you dig the song, make sure you pre-order it here.

The joke album is called Songs To Start A Revolution To and it has been released under the band name "Sundrinker." Mixtapes wants you to know that "nothing about this is serious so don't expect any good songs or anything that's like our real music." No Sleep Records have posted a blog about the issues they had with their Record Store Day online store.
From the BlogOkay the system was set up to handle what we are going to be doing for all of the overselling that happened. Within about 30-60 minutes i will start going through every order and updating them based on if you are getting it, and if not you will get a refund plus a special apology gift. If you are one of the lucky ones, you will be notified by a Order Revision email from No Sleep, just showing your order how it was before. If you are one of the unlucky, you will be notified twice - via PayPal with the Refund and an Order Revision email from No Sleep. I am unsure how long...

No Sleep Records will be doing a digital-only reissue of The Wonder Years' first full-length album, Get Stoked On It! The reissue will be remixed and remastered and come out May 15. Check the replies to see the new artwork.

Update: Soupy from the band has commented on the release in the replies.
Soupy's CommentIn our opinion, this record is a trainwreck. Chris paid to get it remastered forever ago and we kept trying to put off its inevitable rerelease. He and I agreed that since its already available digitally, that no real harm can come of swapping out the old mixes with the better sounding ones as long as it never gets pressed in a physical form again. That's the long and short of...

Chris will be under the blue name "NoSleepRecords," Jeff under "thisisntworking," and Seth under "TSR00Seth." Have a great time!

Over what seems to be the past couple months, I've been working on a story of sorts looking at the formation and rise of Chris Hansen's No Sleep Records. Today, I'm proud and honored to share that story with you. Looking a bit at the Chris' earlier days and how No Sleep has helped shaped the current musical landscape, I also talked to members of The Wonder Years, La Dispute, Touche Amore and Balance and Composure about their respective experiences as a part of the No Sleep family. You can read the story in its entirety here.
From the Story“It is an honor to have helped build so many friendships, and to honestly create an environment that bands enjoy,” says Hansen. “I love everyone on...

Mixtapes have signed with No Sleep Records. Expect a new full length sometime in 2012.

Press Release Mixtapes hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and formed in 2010. After some rough times in their personal lives Ryan Rockwell and Maura Weaver started writing songs together for fun with the idea to make a record and play some local shows. They recorded their debut album "Maps" and released it for free on Death To False Hope Records in early 2010. Since then they have consistently released music (48 songs in the past year and a half) and toured any and everywhere they can. They released two 7 inches and one LP on Animal Style Records, a split with Direct Hit! on Kind Of Like Records, and...
