Broadway Calls, No Sleep Records' latest addition, is releasing a new split EP titled Vision Quest with label mates Mixtapes tomorrow, but you can hear it today. There's something about the last year that has grappled me back into my "heavy" diet I weened off of some years back. With bands like Code Orange Kids, MilanKu and Full of Hell entering my life - I've definitely enjoyed the more sinister, unnerving and angrier side of music in 2012. Then there's Mountain Man's upcoming record. Two is unforgiving. From the opening beat down of "Home is a concept" to the closing exhaustion of "Take out the sun" (one of the best tracks of 2012), Mountain Man stake a claim in this decade's competition of tearing down walls and walls of inner ear structures. It's angry, violent and shows little to no remorse - everything a good hardcore record should be. It...
We're very excited to premiere a brand new song from one of No Sleep Records' recent signings, Lowtalker. Taking their name from the classic "Puffy Shirt" episode of Seinfeld, the quartet is offering up a brand of hardcore that'll tickle fans of Living With Lions and Comeback Kid. They'll be releasing their No Sleep debut EP, The Marathon, on September 18th, and you can check out the artwork, track listing, and opening track "Tension" in the replies. After you dig the song, make sure you pre-order it here.
Starting Saturday in San Antonio, we'll have AbsolutePunk buttons to give away at this year's Vans Warped Tour. I'll be at the No Sleep Records tent Saturday and Sunday in Houston. So come say "Hello!" and grab a pin and be sure to check out what our friends at No Sleep brought along with them all summer, including their sampler featuring new and unreleased tracks from the label's newest signings and alumni you are already loving. Don't worry, even after this weekend, we're going to leave the buttons at the tent for all the dates. Make sure to snag one before they're all gone.
No Sleep Records is looking for some street team help for Warped Tour. If you volunteer at your date, you'll be able to get in for free. They've also started a contest to win a one-of-a-kind, 8' X 5' banner that has been used at festivals and shows.
No Sleep Records has signed Pittsburgh indie rockers Adventures (featuring members of Code Orange Kids). Their debut EP/7" will be released in the fall. Head to the replies to hear a new song entitled "Reach Out to You."

Mixtapes has released a joke album - which is 26 songs and about 40 minutes - of songs that were recorded during the recording process for its upcoming debut full-length, Even On The Worst Nights, for free download. The joke album is called Songs To Start A Revolution To and it has been released under the band name "Sundrinker." Mixtapes wants you to know that "nothing about this is serious so don't expect any good songs or anything that's like our real music." They add that they can assure us "that No Sleep Records is very happy that we took their money for recording and also came out with this."
The Topshelf vs. No Sleep war has ended and resulted in this: A 20-song compilation featuring rare songs from the labels' bands available in select Hot Topic stores on May 22. Check out all the details here.
No Sleep Records will be doing a digital-only reissue of The Wonder Years' first full-length album, Get Stoked On It! The reissue will be remixed and remastered and come out May 15. Check the replies to see the new artwork.
Edit: The chat is now over! Thanks a lot to Chris, Jeff and Seth, and thanks to everyone who stopped by.
Jeff Casazza (owner, Run for Cover Records), Chris Hansen (owner, No Sleep Records) and Seth Decoteau (owner, Topshelf Records) will be chatting in this thread at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST. Stop in and ask the guys about their respective label's success in 2011, their plans for 2012, and their favorite type of pizza.
Chris will be under the blue name "NoSleepRecords," Jeff under "thisisntworking," and Seth under "TSR00Seth." Have a great time!
Over what seems to be the past couple months, I've been working on a story of sorts looking at the formation and rise of Chris Hansen's No Sleep Records. Today, I'm proud and honored to share that story with you. Looking a bit at the Chris' earlier days and how No Sleep has helped shaped the current musical landscape, I also talked to members of The Wonder Years, La Dispute, Touche Amore and Balance and Composure about their respective experiences as a part of the No Sleep family. You can read the story in its entirety here.
Following up our chat with Josh Terry, we are now excited to announce another industry chat right here on AP.net. Chatting with us on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST will be Jeff Casazza (owner, Run for Cover Records), Chris Hansen (owner, No Sleep Records) and Seth Decoteau (owner, Topshelf Records). You can come by and ask the dudes anything you want about what it was like to raise their respective independent labels from probably dirty, smelly apartments to prominence in the current scene, about what they have going on in 2012, about their tattoos, about what kind of pizza they like and what they do right before bed each night. See you all on April 5!
