This was the first album to blow me away on first listen this year, and a month later, it's still one of my favourites of 2011, so I highly recommend checking it out. Will Sheff most certainly still knows how to create a flawless indie-rock and folk record, and his dark lyrics are extremely contagious. But go listen for yourself and let us know what you think.

Okkervil River will release a new album titled I Am Very Far on May 10th through Jagjaguwar. Jonathan Melburg of Okkervil River has announced that he will be leaving the band to now focus exclusively on Shearwater, which he is the frontman for. Melburg says the split is "completely amicable;" their new album Rook is out June 3rd on Matador Records.
Okkervil River has a new holiday EP called the Golden Opportunities Mixtape to download for free on their website. The EP includes eight covers and one original song recorded live on tour from 2006 to 2007.

Will Sheff, lead singer of folk-rockers Okkervil River has announced that he will be touring with Josh Ritter for a few West Coast shows late next month. Will will be playing as a solo act and opening the shows.
