Rolling Stone has posted a playlist with what they consider to be the best tracks of the 90s emo movement. What would be on your 90s emo playlist?

This has to be the first time Matchbook Romance have been included on a playlist since Thomas was trying to woo girls with his mixtapes, but our friends at WashedUpEmo has put together the "definitive emo playlist" for Billboard.
Tom Mullen, director, digital marketing at Legacy Recordings/Sony Music, has taken the Executive Playlist to a whole other level--albeit a completist Emo level. Here, with 312 songs spanning 19 hours and 43 minutes of angsty melodicism ranging from Texas is the Reason to Taking Back Sunday to Pinback and beyond, this intense compilation culled from his WashedUpEmo.com blog will leave you exhilarated and perhaps by its end emotionally spent.

Not a whole ton came out in November, but the AP.net staff gave it our best shot at creating a playlist of things we really liked anyway. Have other things we (and everyone) should check out? Hit the replies.

Remember, you can pick up tickets on the festival's website.

Hello June! May has come and gone ... and with that we have compiled together our monthly playlist feature of the music we think you should definitely be checking out. You can check that out in the replies. As usual, we had a bunch of other songs that came out in April that weren't on Rdio, but you can find the names of them below -- so check those out as well. Any we missed and need to check out?

This shortened week is screwing with my brain. Here we are on Thursday, and I don't even know what day of the week it feels like ... but it's definitely not feeling like Thursday. Over the past few weeks I've attended a few graduations -- my college roommate is making me feel inferior by getting his MBA, and other friends are graduating and looking at a wonder-job-market in front of them. Is that too cruel? Is my sarcasm too thick? I can never tell. Anyway, after a tweet yesterday from a reader, the idea of a Thursday Discussion centered around the best "graduation" songs just felt right for today. First off, congrats to all you grads out there. Be it high-school, or college, or...

Today marks the first day of May ... and I'm not seeing any May flowers out my window. Maybe that's because I live in Oregon, and it rains every day. But hey, we got that song everyone sings about Portland, amiright? Anyway, that means that we've put together our round-up playlist of all our favorite songs from April. You can check that out in the replies. This month I also asked the folks from PunkNews.org, PropertyOfZack, AlterthePress, and UndertheGun to join in on helping us re-cap our favorite music from the past month. As usual, we had a bunch of other songs that came out in April that weren't on Rdio, but you can find the names of them below -- so check those out as well. ...

February was a pretty damn good month for music. I have a feeling a few releases will end up on a lot of people's "end of the year" lists. The AP.net staff put together a quick little playlist of some of our favorite tunes that were released this month. You can check that out in the replies - hope you find something new to love.

It's Valentines Day. We run a website that has a "music mends broken hearts" tag line. It's like our anti-holiday or something. So, with that, what are your favorite break-up songs/albums? When you're feeling all emo and like the world hates you -- what are your go to albums? Fall Out Boy's Take This To Your Grave? Brand New's "70x7"? All of Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends? Those have to be three of the most viciously bitter "go to" recordings. Let's hear your picks in the replies.

Even the President of the United States has joined Spotify. Check out his playlist.

We want to make sure you didn't miss any great music that came out last month, so we put together a playlist full of tunes from January that we liked - and hope you'll dig too. It's on Rdio and Spotify. Check it out and feel free to share. Also, if you think there's stuff we missed, let us know in the replies.

I've been falling in love with Angus & Julia Stone all over again this evening, and given how perfect their music is for this time of the year, it made me start thinking of winter music in general. What are some of your go-to bands when the cold weather rolls around? Any new discoveries lately that we should all check out?
Lueda Alia on 01/08/12 - 03:59 PM
We were asked by Rdio to put together a playlist to celebrate their one year anniversary. So the AP.net staff picked a bunch of songs we loved from the last year and put them up.

MTV Hits (the all music cable channel) is running a promotion where viewers submit their own playlists and then vote on whose playlists they want to see on the air, which will make up the channel's programming throughout July. If you're interested in submitting a playlist, head to MTVHits.Mtv.com and regiester (it's totally free, and you can also vote on other peoples' playlists).
