PropertyOfZack have posted an interview with Real Friends' bassist/lyricist Kyle Fasel. He really likes us.
It is tough. I’ve learned to back away from social media and from looking at what people say. We’re always really active with social media, updating our stuff, but in terms of looking at what people say, I try and stay away from it. AbsolutePunk is a terrible website. I don’t look at it, because I really truly think that Jason Tate stirs things up. I get it, that’s his job, he makes money because people go to the website and he wants to stir things up. That’s fine.

Head to PropertyOfZack to see what Tyler Welsh of Driver Friendly has to say about Third Eye Blind for BandsOnBands.
It wasn’t until my freshman year of college when I realized what an amazing band Third Eye Blind was. My girlfriend at the time, burned me a copy of their self-titled album. At first, I scoffed, “Why would I want to listen to an album from a lame one-hit wonder band from the 90s?” She insisted, and I remember listening to “Losing a Whole Year,” for the first time. Driving in my 1991 Jeep Cherokee on a Texas highway, my entire musical world shifted. This was pop. Pure, unadulterated pop. But it was so much more.

Foxy Shazam frontman Eric McNally talks about his band's new, free surprise album Gonzo, what that word means to him, and about the history of mental illness in his family which inspired a lot of this record. The interview gets pretty personal; you can check out a snippet below and read it in full here.
For me, gonzo is… I feel like my dad has lost his mind a little bit. Like, since I was a kid, I just feel like my dad’s lost his mind. And I think that’s been something that’s hereditary in our family. I think “gonzo,” for me, is my fear of what I might… It’s like me applying my dad to myself, and my band and my career and everything. Just imagining. Or really being fearful of what’s to...

POZ has also announced that Knuckle Puck, Unlocking The Truth, Lil Dicky, Animals As Leaders and United Nations will be playing, as well as the facts that My Chemical Romance (duh) and Brand New ((super duh)) will NOT be playing.

PropertyOfZack has launched its second annual March Sadness event. The first round consists of voting for 4 out of 5 bands that represent four categories of emo - the categories are separated into 1990s, 2000s, "reunion" and "revival," because of course they are. Discuss your votes in the replies.

PropertyOfZack has posted the third installment of their Kevin Devine "oral history" piece. The piece itself is really good, but watching Brand New "fans" freak-the-fuck-out that the band posted about it on their Facebook page is just as fun.

The second "Inside Kevin Devine" feature has been posted via PropertyOfZack. Jesse Lacey, Andy Hull, The God Damn Band, and many others provide commentary.
So I met Kevin eventually at an outdoor show we played together, and I think Miracle had already kind of split up, and he was this kind of crazy twitchy kid who was really good at guitar and sang solo on stage at hardcore and emo shows around New York. So then we were friends, and that was that. I don’t know how things go from there, but I do know that watching Kevin over the years, I’ve realized that while I or other musicians I know had to develop something, Kevin seemed always capable of everything. He always listened to cool...

Today we're happy to announce that AP.net and PropertyOfZack will partake in an unofficial post-Riot Fest night at Red Door in Chicago this Friday. The night will feature a playlist chosen by Zack and I, so rest assured that the tunes will be good unless you hate everything we like. You can see all the information on Facebook; our playlist will start at midnight (one hour following Fall Out Boy's set). Since a lot of forum members have been asking about a community meet-up in Chicago, we figured this would be a great time to invite everyone to come together, listen to some good music and hang out following Riot Fest's first day. Hope to see everyone out there! Also: Uber will be offering...

PropertyOfZack recently sat down with William Beckett and spoke about his upcoming debut full-length, opening up about his personal life, and more. Check it out here.
William: Yeah, well I mean ending the band was a big part of it. Because, not to get too into it, but certainly I wasn’t necessarily… what’s the best way to put it… I wasn’t necessarily encouraged to talk about my private life because of my band. From my band.
POZ: It would be bad for the fanbase if they knew you were not “available?”
William: Which in my opinion is fucking stupid! And it was really uncomfortable for a long time. So as soon as I was able to…

In a recent interview with PropertyOfZack, Joe Candelaria of Forever Came Calling noted that the band recorded a The Get Up Kids cover for an upcoming comp, another new song for an upcoming split release, as well as a few songs for a new full-length next year.
Have you recorded or demoed out any new tracks?
We’ve been demoing this whole year. We’re just trying to be as prepared as possible before we go into the studio next time. We recorded Get Up Kids cover for a compilation that’s coming out.
POZ: What song did you do?
Joe: “Campfire Kansas.” We got it back, and everyone is so excited. That’s one of my favorite bands and I didn’t want to fuck it up. We’re all excited about that....

In a recent interview with PropertyOfZack, Joshua Cain of Motion City Soundtrack mentioned that the band is planning on releasing a new record in 2014.
Realistically, there’s no way that the full album could come out before next year. I don’t think that’s possible. I would love it to — maybe it will. But I feel like 2014 is a much safer bet for a new album. We may release some songs prior to that, and you might know about it, but it takes time to set up a record. These days, maybe we’d record a record and release it right after we were done and not have any set up, because I don’t know how to do these things anymore. It all changes so much every day.

PropertyOfZack have posted a fairly in-depth interview with Andy Biersack (Black Veil Brides) and Juliet Simms. POZ covered many topics with the couple, including the stereotypes against the Biersack's band and the "empty amp" scandal as well as Simms experience with The Voice and the future.
It’s as simple as this: Black Veil Brides is the band with the long hair and the body paint and the makeup. That’s the “faggy” band for that. And then Black Veil Brides stops wearing the makeup, cuts the hair, and it’s “the guy sounds like the guy from Nickelback” now. Okay, we come out and play new songs and they’re “oh, that’s different. But there has to be something!” So they go on stage and...

In a recent interview with PropertyOfZack, Pat Kirch and Jared Monaco noted that their band, The Maine, recorded an EP of punk songs.
Pat: And then on the last day we – because we were doing the whole thing completely live so we were set up. So we recorded an EP of punk songs as a joke.
POZ: Really?
Jared: Like a five song EP of punk songs.
Pat: And then we did a Neil Young tune. And then we did a punk version of one of the tunes on the record. We just had some fun at the end.
Jared: Yeah. It was way different than last time. Instead of having 30 songs we wanted to record, we only had 14, 15. Once we got them narrowed down – it was a way more focused effort this time.

We’re off the label. We’re doing this all ourselves. We’re going to do everything ourselves. At this point, we’re not being looked at and have no offers. I don’t know if we would take an offer at this point. We’re in a cool position because we got a lot out of being on the label like good tours and a fan base. Now we have that to work with.
