When do we ever really have to say something?
BlakeYoung Statues' self-titled record is such an understated joy. Their brand of thoughtful pop-rock is not just mesmerizing, it's cathartic. Other than that, it's been a steady stream of Junior Astronomers and Harrison Hudson after seeing the Ap.net sponsored Favorite Gentlemen Tour.
Jack Appleby New Roy English is a jam. Lots of Matt Embree over the last few days after his acoustic set this weekend - it's unreal how smooth he is. Plus Bedlight For Blue Eyes found its way back to my headphones.

Well it was a big to-do.
BlakeI got into a weird and oddly philosophical (for me, at least) conversation about Weezer the other day, and have been spinning them non-stop. The Blue Album, Pinkerton, Raditude and Maladroit, to be exact. Lots of great stuff, and "Trampoline" from Death to False Metal is also a gem. Never been a big fan, but I'm digging now, especially after engrossing myself in lots of backstory. Love it when that happens.
Ryan GardnerSleeping With Sirens, The Moon Is Down obviously, Handwritten, and The American Scene. Oh and I'm super late on this, but seriously, go listen to The Front Bottoms now.

Ever have those moments when you're like, "I know it's definitely a specific day of the week in which I do a specific thing, but I'm not sure what day it is or what the thing I always do is."? Ever have those moments? You do! That's great. (Well, it's not great, but whatever). We are totally bonding over our somewhat sad and very premature memory problem. We can start a support group. Friend me on Friendster.
BlakeI'm listening to Wolves At The Gates' new album Captors and it's pretty much exactly what I expected. Loud, religious (probably) and pretty fun. I've also re-found Saosin's self-titled record this week. "Sleepers" is such a jam. Happy early 4th of July.

Or, maybe someone's talking about how the season premiere of Workaholics was just sort of ok, other than the line about ice being the currency of the future. So many possibilities! And apparently all of them are somehow connected to me!

I don't want to point fingers as to who hasn't done a great job recommending things lately. It could be any one of us. BlakeI got an xbox360 this week with my tax return money because I am an ADULT. So I recommend a bunch of games you nerds have already played (but especially Batman: Arkham City). If you're anything like me, and if you are, lucky you, it's been one of those weeks where things seem to happen at you. Kind of like we're in a firing squad and all the bullies have tied us to a lightpost and the tomatoes and hard-boiled eggs are just coming full speed ahead no matter what. Because that was such a happy, and most importantly, smart analogy, I'll end on a high note and just get to the recommendations
BlakeOther than still being obsessed with All Get Out, I've really been enjoying Caravels' 2010 album Floorboards. It's one of those scream-y, angst-y, post rock-y albums Adam P always likes. Also, the split by Citizen and Turnover is solid. Especially the acoustic renditions...

Maybe in the replies we just try and keep it real and discuss all the interesting things that have happened this past week. Whatever.
Blake SolomonThe best album, by far, that I have heard this year is All Get Out's The Season. It's passionate, tough and also, somehow, accessible. I honestly don't see something else this year hitting me like this album has. Oh, and, it came out in 2011. So, I'm stupid.
