Riot Fest is moving from Humboldt Park to Douglas Park.
Recently, as evidenced in the media, there were those who attempted to divide the Humboldt Park community with unfair and unjust tactics that in no way represent the overwhelming majority of the 26th Ward residents and businesses. And while Riot Fest supporters stressed that without question, Riot Fest has done nothing short of showing their unparalleled devotion to the city and the neighborhood they called home, Riot Fest partners, Michael Petryshyn and Sean McKeough made the ethical decision not to allow the festival to be used as a pawn and removed Riot Fest from the conversation regarding the ever-changing face of Humboldt Park
Jason Tate on 05/20/15 - 12:42 PM
Riot Fest sent out an email asking for people to sign a petition in support of keeping the festival at Humboldt Park.

The alderman of Humboldt Park, Chicago has stated he does not want Riot Fest to return this year:
I am exceptionally disappointed at the Riot Fest organizers for the mess they left at the park last year and their shallow and hollow promises to restore the park," Ald. Roberto Maldonado (26th) said. "I don't support them coming back."

Just a quick reminder for all Chicago-based users and Riot Fest attendees that we will be hosting an unofficial after-party on Saturday night at Five Star Bar with PropertyOfZack. Zack and I will be playing pop-punk and emo songs and we would love to meet everyone from the AP.net/POZ community who's in town! Riot Fest Chicago begins tomorrow and while three-day passes are sold out, you can still nab single-day and two-day passes.

I find myself being extremely picky with music festivals in my old age, but the ridiculous(ly awesome) lineup at Riot Fest Toronto left me no choice but to make plans to attend. Over the past few weeks, I have been trying to finalize a schedule so I can make sure to catch every band I'm eager to see, but it took me only a few minutes upon starting on an actual list to say "Screw it, I'm just going to roam around, enjoy good music as I go, and have some delicious food and beer." That seems about as solid of a plan as it gets with my experience at festivals, except there are 5 bands at this year's Toronto Riot Fest that I will most definitely make sure to see -- rain or shine. Head to the...

Just like last year, we'll be hosting an unofficial Riot Fest afterparty during all the festivities on September 12-14 in Chicago. Glamour Kills is presenting three straight nights of DJ sets at Five Star Bar, and Saturday is the AP.net / PropertyOfZack party. Zack Zarrillo and I will be playing pop-punk and emo songs just like we did last year, and it was great to meet a BUNCH of community members, so we invite everyone to come out and say hi. Friday night will be hosted by Bob Nanna (Braid) and Mark Rose (Spitalfield), while Sunday night will be anchored by booking agent wunderkind Ryan Soroka. There's a flier in the replies!

Riot Fest's Denver stop (Sept. 19-21) has been moved to Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium after Byers, CO recently denied the festival a permit. The festival will recreate the original May Farms campground aesthetic at the new location and all original tickets will be honored of course (and tickets are still available). They're also giving free passes to all Byers residents who want them and are allowing Byers businesses to set up booths at the festival at no cost. Check out the full press release in the replies, which includes a statement from the festival and details about a new college scholarship initiative. Yay!
Outside of bringing the May Farms aesthetic to the new site,...

Riot Fest has been denied a permit for the 3-day music event in Byers, Colorado.
Riot Fest, which features well known rock and punk acts such as Primus, The Cure, Wu-Tang Clan and Slayer, was scheduled for Sept. 19-21 at May Farms in Byers. It made its first appearance in the state last year, also at May Farms. The festival was expected to attract 17,000 people a day to Byers, a town of just over 1,000 residents located about 40 miles east of Denver.

It's not clear how organizers of the festival will deal with the thousands of fans who have purchased tickets to Riot Fest or whether they will try to find an alternate location in the state.

Riot Fest has posted the following response:...
Jason Tate on 07/11/14 - 12:18 PM
The Denver Post writes that Riot Fest's Denver stop (scheduled for Sept. 19-21) could be in trouble this year. People from the town where it's held complained at an open house / community forum about noise (one man said he had to close his windows!), drug use, traffic and other "nasty things."
The future of Riot Fest in Colorado, held for the first time in the state last year at May Farms near Byers, remains uncertain as Arapahoe County officials wrestle with whether to allow the event to continue this year. No decision on the event's future was made Tuesday evening.

Those who packed the American Legion Hall in this small, rural town 40 miles east of Denver to address the Arapahoe...

Today we're happy to announce that AP.net and PropertyOfZack will partake in an unofficial post-Riot Fest night at Red Door in Chicago this Friday. The night will feature a playlist chosen by Zack and I, so rest assured that the tunes will be good unless you hate everything we like. You can see all the information on Facebook; our playlist will start at midnight (one hour following Fall Out Boy's set). Since a lot of forum members have been asking about a community meet-up in Chicago, we figured this would be a great time to invite everyone to come together, listen to some good music and hang out following Riot Fest's first day. Hope to see everyone out there! Also: Uber will be offering...

Say Anything won't be performing at Riot Fest this year due to a medical issue with an unnamed member of the band. A statement from Max Bemis is below; we send our best wishes along. Riot Fest set times were posted yesterday.
Hey y’all, with one of our members dealing with some pressing and unavoidable medical issues, we regretfully have to pull out of Riot Fest. Suffice to say we are bummed. Our sincere apologies to anyone hoping to see us. Meanwhile, you guys enjoy the great line up at Riot this year and we promise to make it up when we tour our new record in 2014.

Love,
Max
