The National will be the musical guest when Lena Dunham hosts the March 8th episode of Saturday Night Live. This gives me two correct predictions on my SNL Wish List.

Saturday Night Live will always be something I look forward to watching every week. Every season I always look forward to what musical guests Lorne Michaels and company are going to book. Last week, Arcade Fire kicked off the 39th season, while Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are booked for this week and next. SNL does a fairly decent job of mixing in established bands with up-and-coming bands throughout a season. What follows in the replies is my wish list for artists I hope to see grace the SNL stage this year along with what songs I'd like to see played. After you check out my list, make sure to add in what bands you'd like to see this season.

Arcade Fire debuted four new songs in total from their upcoming LP Reflektor tonight. First they were the musical guests on Saturday Night Live, where they performed the title track from the album as well as "Afterlife." Following that the band debuted "Here Comes the Night Time," "We Exist," and balls-to-the-wall rocker "Normal People" on a concert special broadcast by NBC immediately after SNL. The concert included a variety of pretty random celebrity cameos (including Michael Cera, Bono, Ben Stiller, James Franco, Rainn Wilson, Zach Galifinakis and more) as well as a lot of bizarre but exuberant dancing both in the band and the audience alike. If you watched either SNL or the concert...

The New York Times has put together an unbelievably in-depth piece chronicling the audition process for 22 current and former Saturday Night Live cast members. For great acceptance (and rejection) stories, and to also get an idea of what goes into casting the show, take the time to give it a read.
