In a new interview with Blare Magazine, Saves the Day's Chris Conley talks about the importance of role models in music and how "emo" tried to be famous.
QuoteI remember when I was young we had the New Kids On The Block and cheesy late 80sí and 90sí dance music and that was really popular for years and years. Then all of a sudden you had the grunge bands who didnít care and they came in and tore that all down because people had gotten tired of the hollow sound of dance beats. It looks to me like that happens in cycles. For the last five or six years itís been pretty much pop music, like even the emo bands were going pop. That happened around 2003; all of the emo bands tried to be...

In a new interview, Chris Conley of Saves the Day discusses writing Daybreak, and says that they will be touring Europe this year in the late fall.
InterviewI had ["Living Without Love"] and at first it was a much slower song and I expected it to be sort of a piano ballad and then as Arun and I were recording demoís for Daybreak in 2009 we noticed that we had a lot of mid tempo songs and we thought it would be kind of fun to speed one of these songs up and make it like a Motown song and "Living Without Love" seemed like the perfect song to speed up and sure enough when we played it much faster it just came to life and the lyrics came later.

This past Sunday, I sat down with Max Bemis (Say Anything), Kenny Vasoli (The Starting Line/Person L) and Chris Conley (Saves the Day) to discuss the current state of the music industry and life after being a part of a major label. Head here to read the hour long discussion, and hit the replies with your thoughts. Where do we stand? What do bands have to do to succeed? Is this all forcing creativity and weeding out bad personal investments in bands that will just break-up in a year anyway? Is the idea of the rockstar dead among the underground, or is the underground the new bohemian rockstar? Will the majors eventually fold, and there will be a level playing field amongst any and all...
