Shearwater will release a new album titled Animal Joy, which was mixed by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jonsi, Frightened Rabbit), on February 14th via Sub Pop Records.

Jonathan Meiburg (Shearwater) and Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu) have teamed up to start a new band called Blue Water White Death and they will release their self-titled debut on October 12th via Graveface Records. Listen to and download "Song for the Greater Jihad" here.

Jonathan Melburg of Okkervil River has announced that he will be leaving the band to now focus exclusively on Shearwater, which he is the frontman for. Melburg says the split is "completely amicable;" their new album Rook is out June 3rd on Matador Records.

Love of Diagrams will perform a free show at Amoeba Music in San Francisco on April 14th at 4 PM. Jonathan Meiburg and Thor Harris (of Shearwater) will also perform at End Of An Ear in Austin at 6 PM on the same day to celebrate the remastered release of Palo Santo which came out today.

Matador Records has signed Shearwater out of Austin, Texas. The band features two members of Okkervil River (Will Sheff and Jonathan Meiburg) who originally used Shearwater as an outlet for some of their softer music. Matador Records will be releasing a double-disc version of Palo Santo (initially released last year) on April 10th with five re-recorded versions of songs done in December 2006 along with new art and re-mastering. The second disc also comes with Palo Santo demos.
