Last night, I was able to catch Manchester Orchestra's Spring headlining tour. Not only was the band sharp, their openers were just as great. There was the gritty O'Brother, Chris Staples (Twothirtyeight, Discover America) and the jamming The Features.
It reminded me of the excitement of discovering new bands by going to see some of my favorite artists. Remember those days? Long before we were berated with Myspace pages and online features, getting to a show early meant two things: getting as close to the stage as possible and catching some fresh material from some fresh faces.

Trial have announced they’ll be playing a show in Seattle on April 22nd with 108, Pulling Teeth, Wait In Vain and Parasitic Skies. In addition to the April 22nd show, Trial will be playing the Burning Fight Fest in Chicago on May 2nd. They have also hinted at shows in Europe, South America and additional shows in the US later this year. Panic Records will be releasing the 10 Year Anniversary Expanded Edition of Are These Our Lives? this spring in time for the Seattle and Chicago shows.
Paint It Black will release their new album, New Lexicon, on February 19, 2007. The band is playing two special CD release shows in early January. Set Your Goals recently performed a free Acoustic Set in South Florida while on their current tour with The Distance and No Trigger. It went over so well, the band has decided to add a few more of these "unplugged" shows to their current batch of tour dates. October 8th SYG will be performing on Toronto's Punk Radio Cast Internet Radio Show (also to appear: The Loved Ones) and October 9th via the Alternative Press XM Satellite Radio show, which airs weekly on the radio's Fungus 53 channel. Terror will be dropping off several upcoming shows due Scott Vogel falling ill. The band will miss shows in Dallas, Atlanta, Virginia, and Baltimore and rejoin the tour in New York.
