Skate and Surf has changed this year's location to Asbury Park (instead of Middletown, NJ), as PropertyOfZack has learned. POZ has also announced that Knuckle Puck, Unlocking The Truth, Lil Dicky, Animals As Leaders and United Nations will be playing, as well as the facts that My Chemical Romance (duh) and Brand New ((super duh)) will NOT be playing.

The Gunz Show sat down with John D., the creator of Skate and Surf, to discuss this year’s lineup as well as the history of the Festival. John explained how he secured a Midtown reunion, what went wrong last year, and hints at more acts to be added. He also touches base on how the venue will be set up and another upcoming tour he has planned. You can listen to it here.

Hop to the replies to check out my full review of last weekend's Skate and Surf festivities. You all may have heard the negatives about it in our open thread -- but there were some positives to be realized as well.
If Skate and Surf doesn’t return next year, we’ll know why. It paled in comparison to 2012’s Bamboozle, which on its own wasn’t a perfect experience... But if you came to see good bands, you left Six Flags Great Adventure having seen plenty of them.
Thomas Nassiff on 05/22/13 - 05:23 AM
Skate and Surf Festival has announced Bears and Motorcycles as the winner of "The Break Contest". And on May 13, GameChanger World will release a free “Boardwalk” mobile app, which will reveal set times of performances, as well as a map of the festival grounds. You can get the app and more information here.

Who doesn't love a good wild card? Today we're bringing you (along with Skate and Surf Festival and the Break Contest) the Wildcard Survey. S+S fans can vote for their favorite unsigned acts (using the poll here) to help them earn the last remaining festival performance slots for May 18th and 19th. Thanks to Live it Up, Red Bull Records, Shirts for a Cure, and Self Made Co -- there are four spots remaining for Skate and Surf Fest -- your vote decides who goes. Pretty cool, huh? And if you didn't know already, Skate and Surf is May 18th and 19th, and you can buy tickets here.

Update: The chat is now over, thanks a lot to Andrew for spending some time with us!

Andrew WK will be chatting in this thread at 6 pm EST / 3 pm PST. The festival takes place on May 18/19 and tickets are still available here.

Holy crap, we're only two and half weeks from the return of the Skate and Surf Festival, so how about we give away another pair of tickets to the jamboree in New Jersey on May 18th and 19th. To win this pair, tell me your favorite memories from earlier versions of the Skate and Surf fest. Or if you haven't been before, tell me why the return of this festival is so important to the scene? Give it your best shot n the replies and I'll pick my favorite answer tomorrow. Good luck!

To win this pair, tell me which band you're excited to see and why you're stoked this fest is back in our lives. Are you excited for Fall Out Boy? What about Saves The Day and Glassjaw? PropertyOfZack has published a tell-all interview with John D on the downfall of Bamboozle with serious details of what went wrong, and in turn why Skate And Surf and GameChanger are coming back. Check it out here.
There was a falling out at Bamboozle. A really bad one. But it wasn’t with Live Nation as a company. It was with a few individuals at upper management. And the rumors are true. I F bombed them. I went in and told them to take their job and stick it as far up their asses as they could put it. I said that, because I had reached a point.

Do the surfs up hand sign ... you knew this was coming, right? Today we can officially announce that Fall Out Boy are playing Skate and Surf Fest. No more rumors or hints - this is the real deal. We're going to be doing a lot with the festival this year, so make sure you get your tickets early. Also, this year's unique in that there's the special "Game Changer" mobile gaming booth as part of the festival, we'll have more information on these games where you can play with some of your favorite bands ... soon.

Don't forget to check out the festival on Facebook and Twitter. Guess I'm not so mysterious after all.
