John Nolan is the guest on this week's Voice and Verse Podcast.
I don’t know if you remember, but on the original demos we released, there was a song called “It’s Everybody’s Fault But Mine” and one called “A Slow Descent.” Those two were more about the experience of being in Taking Back Sunday, and I made a conscious decision to leave those off the record – not because of what I was saying in it or being too honest, but because people were overly obsessed with that. I had also just come off the Taking Back Sunday and Brand New “feud,” and that stuff got pretty old pretty quick to me.

A brief interview with John Nolan can be seen here.
QuoteI certainly wouldn't say that it's all been my song writing with a different name. I would say it's always been a combination of my song writing mixed with someone else's song writing or at least my song writing being influenced by the people I'm working with.

Do you think Straylight Run's The Needles the Space is a sophomore slump or comeback of the year? We've pitted two staff members against each other to debate its merits on whether it will live on as a worthy successor or fall into the dreaded sophomore slump category. Read the justification for each in the replies and feel free to post your own thoughts.

According to this interview, Straylight Run will not be recording this year due to money issues.
Interview Excerpt5. Besides touring for your solo album, will Straylight Run be recording a full-length and touring in 2010?

John: Unfortunately, it’s looking like that won’t happen. We’ve had some interesting ideas for our next record, but there are a lot of practical and financial concerns that are probably going to prevent it from ever coming to be.

My interview with John Nolan can be seen here.
QuoteI'm sure there was music that influenced me on the record, but the big thing was getting back to a certain attitude in making music. That was the whole idea for this project was to get back to this attitude of having fun and messing around with ideas. Just to get back with the feeling I had when I was 19-20, recording songs on my four track.

Shaun from Straylight Run updated the band's myspace blog with an update from the studio. You can read it below.
BlogStudio Recap Day 1 We've left the beaches of beautiful steamy hot Long Island behind for a quaint DC suburb in Maryland. We arrived late Sunday night and began day one of preproduction Monday afternoon. The day was spent rearranging and restructuring these songs to push them to the limits of their potential badassness (i know that isn't even close to a word). Mr. Squire is on a the other side of the country so ideas are being emailed back and forth and his input has been invaluable. This long distance relationship appears to be working splendidly. Technology is a...

An AP.net reader who attended a recent Straylight Run show had this to send in after talking with frontman John Nolan.
Fans Report InI talked to John Nolan after their show in OKC last night and asked him about future touring plans and he said they're working on getting on a tour with The Used in April. I know it's a weird tour that doesn't make much sense, but he said "We're just trying to get on any tour that we can right now."

John from Straylight Run updated the band's myspace blog, extending thanks to those with kind words from the last blog post. He says thank you, why don't you tell the band you're welcome yourself soon (wink, wink)?
BlogI just wanted to write and let you know that I read all of your responses to my last blog and I am so grateful and so touched by your love and support for our band. When I'm reminded of what our music can mean to people I am absolutely amazed and humbled. It helps me remember that all of the business related aspects of being in a band are so small and so insignificant in the long run. Thank you all so much for taking the time to write. It really means more than I can say.
