Queen Moo is a young Connecticut-based punk act with members that have played or currently play in Two Humans and Sorority Noise. Don't fret if there are aspects of those bands you dislike, though: Queen Moo is best characterized by their unique blending of group vocal melodies and interesting chord progressions. Their self-titled LP is out August 10, and a pre-order will be live soon.

The Obsessives are a young band from the Washington, D.C. area, and probably at least partially because they are young and full of general angst, they are the type of band that puts recordings of voicemail messages in the middle of their songs. This is an essential rite of passage for many emo bands, a category The Obsessives are fairly placed into: Their new single, "Bored," which is in the replies, sounds like when you're driving to your parents' house from college and it's very, very late because you left too late, but you obviously have to stay awake and it's a matter of life or death that you don't fall asleep. The track is only two minutes and eleven seconds long, of which only...

Burglary Years is a band from Boston that you could probably tag with a "dream-pop" label, but that doesn't stop the group from spending about half of its new six-minute single "Hatch" rocking out in a pretty heavy way. "Hatch," which you can find in the replies, is a song that lends itself to the listener as a perfectly adequate backdrop for zoning out and falling into its hazy melodies, but it's clear that the songwriting here is well thought out. Burglary Years will release 100 Roses this July via Boston-based label Disposable America, and the record has taken the group years to finalize; the result, if "Hatch" is proper indication, will be an LP worth listening to for its unique...

Gainesville, FL's Dikembe have sparked an interest in listeners over the past couple years because of their willingness to evolve: Their sophomore full-length, Mediumship, traded the barbed-wire energy from their introductory releases, the Chicago Bowls EP and their debut LP Broad Shoulders, for a somewhat more reclined approach. While the band still delivered intimate lyricism, they did so through slower-tempo jams and generally more "mature" musicianship. The group's newest effort, a four-song EP titled Ledge, is being self-released by the band and showcases another step in their evolution. Ledge is Dikembe taking a focused and driven step forward, dedicated to evaluating and...
