While the Russian composer and violinist’s talent and extensive knowledge and interest in Western music set him apart in his home country, Goldberg quickly realized that in order to fully utilize and broaden the scope of his musical ambitions, he would need to relocate to America. The Obsessives are a young band from the Washington, D.C. area, and probably at least partially because they are young and full of general angst, they are the type of band that puts recordings of voicemail messages in the middle of their songs. Burglary Years is a band from Boston that you could probably tag with a "dream-pop" label, but that doesn't stop the group from spending about half of its new six-minute single "Hatch" rocking out in a pretty heavy way. "Hatch," which you can find in the replies, is a song that lends itself to the listener as a perfectly adequate backdrop for zoning out and falling into its hazy melodies, but it's clear that the songwriting here is well thought out.
