Last night I finally sat down to unload a lot of my thoughts on this year's South by Southwest music festival. You can read it here. Thank you to all the people and bands that continue to inspire me. To the industry, artists big and small, managers, publicists and anyone involved in the day to day out there - don't ever forget why you started your job to begin with. Never let the little naive kid who just wanted play a show or even attend one get smothered by the business side of things. Thank you and enjoy. You can read all of our coverage here.

I got a few pictures sent to me from staff down at our SXSW party. I tossed them up on facebook and in our gallery. I'll continue to add more as they get sent to me. If twitter is to be believed, it seems the party attendees are still recovering from the night.

Adam seems to be having a blast down at SXSW so far. I've heard he's already gone through all of the stickers I sent him. Umm, shit. Well, he's checking out fun. right now and just sent in this video of them playing "Carry On." Nate sounds so spot on, I'm bummed it's cut short.

In other, totally relevant, news: Lueda's officially in the USA and on her way down to Austin. Make sure you've RSVP'd so you can hear her DJ at our party Friday night.

It's that time of the year again - SXSW is here! The interactive and film portions are already either underway or finished, but the part that interests all of us (music) is just about to start. As usual, AP.net staff members will be down in Austin covering a variety of parties, showcases, BBQs and everything else in between. I'll be down there once again (for my 7th year in a row!), along with Adam and Eda, to cover all of our activities. We'll be updating the @apnetatshow twitter account fairly often with some of the shows we see, so make sure to follow that. If you want even more updates, you can follow us on our individual twitter accounts: @paultao, @alueda and @p_is_silent.

Drum roll please ... the time has come to announce our SXSW party line-up. This is something we've been working on for a long time, and we are extremely excited to be throwing our first ever SXSW party. We did our best to put together a line-up that we love and one that showcases a wide range of the bands and genres we cover on the website. Our party is taking place on Friday (March 16th) night (technically Saturday morning) at the Purevolume House. Our event starts at midnight, and goes until 4am. We've got great bands, our very own Paul Tao and Lueda Alia (along with AP.net member Billions & Billions) will be DJing between the sets, and there's an open bar. ...
Jason Tate on 02/28/12 - 09:34 AM
Due to a technical difficulty with the RSVP page, it looks like we've got to push back our announcement of the line-up for our SXSW party until tomorrow. We don't want to announce all the goodies without making sure there's a way you can go to the show. So, with that - we're pushing it back until tomorrow morning when I wake up. However ... I don't wanna leave you completely blue-balled. So, I will say that our lovely staff members Paul Tao and Lueda Alia will be joined by AP.net member Billions and Billions and guest-DJ'ing in between the sets. I guess I wonder if it'll kill you or me to tell you the rest? Hmmm ... I'll just drop hints instead.
Jason Tate on 02/27/12 - 03:23 PM
We're throwing a little party down in Austin this year for SXSW. We'll be able to tell you more about it on Monday, and this is my obligatory "get excited because I'm excited" post.
