Before the “emo” tag became a part of popular culture, The Get Up Kids were making the Midwest proud with their unique rock ‘n’ roll sound. Whether they got crowds jumping along to the fast-paced confessional “Coming Clean” or kept them entranced with the piano driven “I’ll Catch You”, The Get Up Kids proved themselves as a band comfortable in creating pop hits, unabashed ballads, or anything inbetween. The Get Up Kids are releasing a 10th anniversary live CD/DVD of Something To Write Home About on September 8th, the trailer for which you can view exclusively in the replies. The whole damn thing will be streaming on MySpace tomorrow as well.

The Get Up Kids have apologized for inadvertently creating the neon emo fad that's currently dominating the scene.
From the Article“Honestly, I don’t often think about the state of ‘emo’. The punk scene we came out of and the punk scene now are completely different. It’s like glam rock now. We played the Bamboozle fests this year and we felt really out of place. I could name maybe three bands we played with. It was just a sea of neon shirts to us. If this is the world we helped create, then I apologise...If a band gets huge and they say we inspired them, great. The problem is most of them aren't very good. What does that say about us?
