Our friends over at PunkNews.org are streaming a new tribute EP that features Lawnmower and others covering songs by punk legends The Replacements. Check it out in the replies. As the self-proclaimed biggest Replacements fanatic on staff I'd say they definitely do these tunes justice. You can purchase the EP or pre-order it on vinyl via Save Your Generation Records here.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the class of 2014, and the list is a rather illustrious one. Nirvana, The Replacements, Peter Gabriel, and KISS, as well as Cat Stevens, N.W.A., Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt, Yes, LL Cool J, Chic, Deep Purple, The Zombies, The Meters, Link Wray, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, are all up for induction.

The top five vote-getters will be inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next April, and like last year, the public can vote for their favorites with a "fan ballot" at RollingStone.com. I wonder if Nirvana will make it.

Welcome to My Back Pages, a new collaborative staff feature that will survey a landscape of renowned classics and unheralded gems alike, most of which no one around here ever writes a word about. The rules are simple and loose: we won’t cover anything from this millennium and we will avoid all or most AP.net favorites—though we might make an exception if something is nearing a milestone anniversary. Beyond that though, anything is fair game. So if you have an album, artist, or genre you would like to see discussed in this feature, feel free to throw us a few recs.

This week, we are taking a look at The Replacements' seminal 1985 album Tim. Produced by Tommy Ramone, the...

The Replacements will be releasing a covers EP.
From the ArticleIn late September, singer Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson spent a day in a Minneapolis studio and cut four cover songs that will be released later this year as a limited edition 10-inch vinyl EP. All 250 copies will auctioned online, and the proceeds will benefit Slim Dunlap, the Replacements' guitarist from 1987 to 1991, who had a severe stroke in February.
