And it's on! The Absolute 100 is back. A gigantic assembly of 100 staff-picked favorites, The Absolute 100 is our annual list of lesser-known bands that we'd take to any talent battle. Part One is now posted (with song streams included) for you to browse and enjoy. We'll be posting the next three installments throughout the month of September.
One of the members of this year's Absolute 100, Boston's Lansdowne were named the first prize winner in Gretsch's Unsigned Artist Competition, winning $5,000 in Gretsch instruments. Congratulations to Lansdowne and the grand prize winner, Gainesville, Florida's Colourslide.
All Get Out, one of our The Absolute 100 picks, will release their new EP on November 25th. They've also posted a new demo on myspace titled, "The Reason You're Still Alive".

Last year, we introduced a new feature called The Absolute 100. As a list of our favorite up-and-coming and lesser known bands, we hoped to start a fire with all the blossoming talent. This time around it's no different. Now introducing, Part One of 2008's The Absolute 100.
We've begun the creation of this year's Absolute 100 list. Though we already have a bunch of bands in mind, we're wondering what bands you think should make it. We're looking for smaller bands that many haven't heard of. No genres are restricted, so throw some great recommendations out...you may just see them on this year's list.
