It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah "Ikey" Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans. Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White's backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects. Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled. We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.
The Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala sounds off on recent vinyl reissues for the band -- commenting, "some idiot is pocketing the money" and "there will be a proper reissue of early Volta records [...] when we do release the early volta records they will be far superior in packaging and we will get the money."
Antemasque will release their debut, self-titled LP on July 15th. The prog supergroup has also released another new song, "Drown All Your Witches," which you can hear at bandcamp. Preorders go live tomorrow, and can be acquired here.
Apparently Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta) have buried the hatchet and formed a new band - Antemasque. They've also recruited former Mars Volta member Dave Elitch on drums and the legendary Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass. You can watch a short teaser video in the replies.
Louis XIV frontman Jason Hill formed a new project dubbed Vicky Cryer. He collaborated with members of Muse, The Killers, The Mars Volta, Jamiroquai and more on the debut album, The Synthetic Love of Emotional Engineering, which is due out April 16th. Details are in the replies.

Big Sir, the project of Lisa Papineau (Air France, M83) and Juan Alderete (The Mars Volta), have a new album titled Before Gardens After Gardens coming out on February 7th through Sargent House.
