Jeff Martin formerly of This Day and Age is fronting a new band called Pompton Lakes. They just finished recording their debut album which will come out later this Fall and are playing their first ever show in Philadelphia on August 17 with their friends Dinner and a Suit.

If there was ever a band that understood the indie rock sound, it was This Day and Age. The Buffalo, New York quintet dropped three albums in its lifetime: Start Over On Monday, Always Leave the Ground and The Bell and Hammer, swooning more hearts with each release. Their music was stunningly beautiful and often boiled down to a few signature characteristics: atmosphere, intricacy and a decent dose of pulsing rock (for the perfect example, see “Always Straight Ahead”). They penned lyrics that were concerned with subjects beyond the trivialities of daily life, too, often tackling spiritual and philosophical matters. Unfortunately, they split in 2004 when Jeff Martin left the band. ...

Jeff Martin (This Day & Age) has finished tracking a few new songs, which are currently being mixed. You'll hear these songs soon, as he's going to post them online. Rumor has it that Jeff and Steve Padin (This Day & Age/The Reign of Kindo) will be releasing something together in the not-so-distant future. Stay tuned.

For a limited time, The Reign of Kindo (ex-This Day & Age) will be giving everyone a sneak-peek of their self-titled debut EP, which will be in stores on August 21st. The band will be posting various selections on their myspace throughout the next couple months. Also, their first tour dates have been posted and more will be added in the near future.
