Thrice have posted up a brand new song called "Yellow Belly" for your listening pleasure. Riley had this to say about the recording process and song: “Yellow Belly’s” working title was Major/Minor, which, after much deliberation, ended up becoming the title of our new record. It was the first track we debuted live at Bamboozle in April, and the first track we laid down in the studio at the beginning of our sessions in May. Our only exposure to Red Bull Studios had been tracking and taping a Myspace Transmissions session in 2007, but getting to record an entire record there was a fantastic experience and one we’re very grateful for."
Read a lengthy, interesting interview with Riley Breckenridge of Thrice about drums and music writing here. The interview comes from the new website started by Benjamin Homla of Bad Books. It's going to be dedicated to drummers with interviews, photos, videos, and more.
We all suffer from it. We all succumb to it at some point. I do it far too often. Maybe it's time to put a stop to it. Riley from Thrice has posted a really interesting blog discussing the negativity that seems prevalent on the internet music blogs today. In my view, there's a vocal minority that draw the eyeballs with these kinds of posts - but that can be drowned out with more posts from people that do like something or those willing to have more informed discussion on why they don't like something. Either way, the blog is something I recommend everyone read.
Due to an illness in the family, Riley Breckenridge (Thrice) will be taking a indefinite break from his weekly column for OC Weekly. Our thoughts are with him and his family.
