What are everybody's? And try to post clips instead of writing about it, so you don't ruin it for anyone.

The end of Nights Of Cabiria makes me tear up EVERY time I see it. So unbelievably sad and uplifting and hopeful all at the same time. The look on her face right before the credits roll...unbelievable:

I don't know about of all time but one of my favorite ending to a movie ever was the end of Fifthteen Minutes.

I loved it cause, it ends with Justice being served. I love me some Justice.

I wouldn't say it's "greatest of all time", but I always love the ending of The Adventures of Sebastian Cole. There's no clips of it online, unfortunately.

I don't think this is the greatest, but i love the end of the Godfather, when Kay watches the two men address Michael as Don Corleone and they close the door

I like the 2nd one aswell when the children are sitting at the table and michael tells sonny that he's going into the military

for me a good ending has to have a good/fitting song to go with it..

Fight Club and Devils Rejects both were done beautifully done as far as the was it was filmed/ put to the music

The ending of Wicker Park is probably my favourite movie ending ever. Same with Jeux d'Enfants, it was PERFECT

For me, the ending of the Shawshank Redemption is just plain great. (sorry i'd post a clip, but...)
!!*SPOILER WARNING*!!
From the point where they discover the escape route behind the Raquel Welch poster to the very end where Andy and Red meet and embrace on the beach...and the music explodes in with the credits, man...fuckin' gets me every time.

I'd also say at the end of the Godfather...for some reason I just love whenever Kay is looking through the door at Michael as it's being closed, and he's being addressed as Don Corleone...something about it is just real cool, and almost sinister, maybe.

And then of course, the end of This Is Spinal Tap hahaha...cracks me up every time. (I'm talking about the parts during the credits) Whenever Marty is talking to Nigel about working in a chapeau shop, and Marty asks "Do you think you'd be happy doing that?" Nigel thinks a second and...
"Well, I dunno. What're the hours?" hahahaha, oh man...

The end of "Magnolia" where you can barely hear John C. Reilleys character talking in the background to that girl that was a drug addict and she just randomly smiles.

Now that I really think about great film endings and powerful final scenes, it really comes down to two films that I can't choose between.

Eastwood's Unforgiven and Coppola's The Conversation.

Oh, I also forgot these: I love the end of "the Truman Show" where he's leaving, and everybody's cheering and stuff, and then it shows those two security guards in that parking garage or whatever and they're like "well what else is on?" and "yeah, where's the TV Guide?" and they're looking around for it hahaha for some reason that cracks me up Also, as was mentioned, the end of "Return Of the Jedi" At least how it WAS...on the DVD re-issues they edited out old Anikan's ghost and stuck in the image of Hayden Christansen or whatever his name is! I mean, c'mon! That was lame...

Did you know that George Lucas went back and edited the movie so at the end the ghosts are Obiwan, Yoda, and Teenage Vader (Hayden Christianson) instead of older vader.
Got me really mad. Lucas screwed up the most recent movies he shouldn't try to mess up the ones he got right!

The ending of Fight Club was alot better in the book. I think edward norton should have died.

that would have been a horrible ending. What's the most cliche way to end a movie? Kill the main character. Plus, fight club wasn't even that type of movie where you would be emotionally attached to the character enough to care. Jack was just cool. Plus, in the book, it's open to interpretation. It seems to me and my friend he just went into a mental ward (hence the pills he's taking in 'heaven', along with all the white).

i cant believe no one has said it but American History X

brutusUbastard
03/13/07, 06:58 AM
Fight Club's ending in the movie totally undermines the purpose of the book. Not that Fight Clubs a bad movie (I fucking love it), but the ending is the weakest part of the movie.

I'm going for the classic (which has now been copied to death) ending of the Usual Suspects.

Also other good endings (that I enjoy):
The Manchurian Candidate (Original)
Casablanca
Big Fish (gets me every time)
Gladiator
Saving Private Ryan
Braveheart
Snatch
21 Grams

I hope somebody has brought up the ending to the first Rocky, one of the greatest ever and besides the chracters charm and how raw the cinematography is, its what makes me love that movie.

And I hope nobody has brought up Stallone being cought with enough steriods for 30 people :shhh:

Scarface ending= EPIC!

good, but, scarface is the most over rated movie of all time. yeah i said it. i like it, but im not going to go buy the special addition and put a poster on my wall saying make way for the bad guy. the godfather 1 and 2 are both by far better pacino movies, with better endings in my opinion.

a french film, a la folie... pas du tout has a pretty decent ending. i like the ending to the empire strikes back as well. the first time i watched it as a kid it made me so anxious to watch the next movie. fight clubs ending is really good, and so is donnie darkos. the ending of brokeback mountain is good, it leaves you with a lot to think about.

For sure. That's probably my favorite movie ever, just for how powerful and emotional it is. The ending is brilliant, and does hit you hard. I feel great about life every time I finish watching that film. It just works that way, somehow. Have you read the novella the movie is based on? If not, I highly reccomend it. A good read.

Undoubtedly The Green Mile for me...
Man...another great Stephen King work. I'm referring to the book, as I haven't seen the movie yet, but I know that the ending would be the same, and yeah...sad stuff. Good choice.

Really? Hmm. Still should be good. It's one of my favorite King novels, and I know the film is directed by Frank Darabont (spelling?) who did Shawshank...so I should definatley like it.

There was a thread just like this a couple months ago I think, but:

Halloween is by far the best...the first time you see it it's just like "...oh shit..."

Resident Evil. If you are fan of the game, no matter how much you didnt like the movie itself, the ending is just fucking PERFECT. It's just like YES! RE2!!!

Memento (i love how sudden it is)

Clerks 2 (the fade to black & white, the song playing is perfect)

Pulp Fiction ("we should prolly get outta here..."

Fellowship Of The Ring, Return Of The King (make me all emo)

Spiderman

The Matrix ("HOLY SHIT HE CAN FLY! RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!")

Without a doubt. The ending ties everything together and IMO makes it one of the if not the best movie of all time.

I also like the ending to Requiem for a Dream and The Departed

My friend really loves that movie and the ending but I couldnt get into it too much. I didn't really like the main actor and the ending kind of frustrated me. I spent the whole movie trying to pay attention then it was like what the fuck and frustrated me

haha that movie is nuts, and that ending made it 10x more nuts. at first your like "yeah screw imigrants all they do if fuck shit up!!" the whole movie goes by and your like "oh man, its not minorities and imigrants that are the problem, its US that has the problem...i love black people!" then by the end of the movie your like "man fuck that shit i hate minorities!" haha. very strange how quickly it went from anti-racism to supporting racism (in a weird way).
