Good or Bad for the sport of baseball?

Some say its great to have a team like that....

others (myself included) think theyre ruining "america's game" (although to be fair, football has been America's Game for at least the past 10 years).. They're doing this by destroying any point of having a Minor League. The Yankees bring nearly no one up from the farm teams, they just buy big name players....this forces other teams to do the same....how can a kid whos drafted now feel like he has a chance of living out his dream?.

Stupid Yankees.

first off....most of those players have been in the league for a while now, so its not like many have been brought up as of late....

also, thats 8 out of about 25 or so people....if i do my math right...that's 32%....not even a third of the team.

thats impressive.

but the yankees have a farm team, they have a few actually. and they regularly bring people up from it, a good chunk of the team was farm based. but can you fault them for not doing it recently with such a stellar lineup?

yeah the yankees do win....no one can deny that.

but thats part of the reason no one cares about baseball anymore.

for the most part, the same teams are good every year (notice "for the most part" before anyone brings up the cubs or marlins) which leads to an....anticlimatic world series, at best.

just because teams have farm teams, doesnt mean they use them....unfortunately, its now the thing to buy players....you dont even see trades as often anymore....its become one big stock market

it was a climatic ALCS.....and NLCS as well....the reasons, though, was all the history riding on it.... i mean, cubs, sox, the thing about Back To The Future involving Florida, the rivalries, the extra innings.

unfortunately, I definitely do not see the world series to be half as good....hopefully I'm wrong with this prediction, but I can't see the Marlins putting up a big fight.

My favorite team is the Mets....call me a bitter fan, maybe I am....but I just don't like how the yankees are run....i guess thats more of my problem with them....almost everyone on the team seems like a good guy (with the exception of Roger Clemens and Karim Garcia). they seem like class acts, and no one can really fault them. I guess my problem with with George S and his business tactics more than anything else

Steinbrenner is definetely an asshole but he's smart and he really cares about what he does. He genuinely cares about winning as opposed to most other owners who are dedicated to making money... Still a dick though

Let's go Yankees!!!!!!!

first off im a red sox fan.... a devestated one who lives a losing life of misery
steinbrenner is one smart guy and i have to give him credit for being a money making winning genious, but i just hate how the sport of baseball is so predictable. i mean in the post game the other night they were talking to mariano and the announcer was like. so mariano how does it feel to be going to the world series for the 6th time in 8 years? and at the moment i vowed im not watching the world series. im just sick of watching the same exact thing every year

"i just hate how the sport of baseball is so predictable."

are you kidding?? was it predicted that the yankees would come back in the bottom of the eigth with 5 outs left? Surely not! was it predicted that a Cubs fan would stick his hand in front of the ball and essentially be the cause of a shocking 8 run comeback? No way. The Yanks/Sox series was surely not the least bit predictable, it was a fantastic and very well matched series that could have gone either way.

First of all - the Yankees eat shit regularly.

Secondly - if you like the Yankees, you are a human failure. You may ONLY like the Yankees IF:

A) You were born in New York City and grew up there.

B) BOTH your parents were born in New York City and they grew up there.

C) You have lived in New York City for at least ten years.

Any of you assholes who likes the Yankees because they're a winning team should go to hell. You're only a baseball fan if you can pull off rooting for the Tigers, or still pull for the Sox after the bullshit that happened this year.

Or if you love the Cardinals because Portland doesn't have a goddamn baseball team because the city is full of a bunch of cheap fucks and your parents are from St. Louis.

There are lots of us out there.

Rennard

P.S. Had the Yankees won tonight, I may have cried.

I follow baseball and basketball with an indescribable passion, and as much as I hate the Yankees SO MUCH....I have to concede a few things. First of all - pretty much every single guy on that team is a pretty good guy. Clemens is a *** for throwing a bat at Piazaa and David Wells is really fat, but honestly....what bad things can you say about Derek Jeter? Alfonso Soriano? Bernie Williams? Jason Giambi? These guys want to win...and theyre playing for the right squad to win for. It's better to root for a team like that than my hometown Trail Blazers, 75% of whom are arrested each year (ok maybe slight exaggeration). Second point, though it's kind of already been mentioned - it's better to have an owner like Steinbrenner, for all his flaws, than a man named Donald Sterling, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. That team has collected so much talent over the year, and they put it all to waste, with the possible exception of Elton Brand. Players who go to the Clippers might as well forget about the rest of their careers. Anyway, i hate the yankees with every bone in my body, and I HATE how they always win. However, at least the ALCS this year was fun to watch.

Go Marlins. 3-2. :)

Give baseball a salary cap thats reasonable like half the yakees payroll and add more playoff teams. The game will be a hell of alot better that way.
