My review of Songs Not To Get Married To, the new album from Reggie and the Full Effect (http://www.ratfe.com), can be found here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/reviews/showproduct.php/product/636/sort/7/cat/35/page/1). The record hits stores on March 29th.

i don't think that's a very fair review. "Everything" by Reggie doesn't sound any more "exactly the same" as everything by pretty much any other band that's ever been reviewed on this site, with a few notable exceptions. Bands have distinctive sounds and that's what they stick to.

Also, calling his "metal" songs "jokes" basically is ridiculous. With the exception of "the trooth" or any common denominator song that may be on this album, they're just as legit as his "keyboard based pop punk" songs.

bear in mind, james WAS the drummer for Coalesce, so it may be possible that he actually likes metal as more than just a passing fancy.

also, he just went through a tough divorce, so these songs are actually a little more serious (with the exception of the obvious jokes tracks) than his previous efforts.

i mean, i understand that you actually liked the album, and that's cool. it just didn't seem fair the way you approached it as if it's all a joke.

edit: also, i'm looking forward to this track, i've always disliked most of the non-song tracks on reggie albums, so this should rock.

I know what you're saying, and I totally understand. And I could just be a total prick and be bashing what James really feels is his real music. But personally, I just wish he could have an entire album that is full of songs that aren't based around jokes. I mean, it's kind of hard to take it seriously when he pretends to be a heavy metal singer from Germany or something..lol. But yeah, I know what you're saying.

I just feel you don't get it.

The thing with reggie is James can right a "joke" song that is 10 times better that the "real" songs that 90% of the bands that get posted about here can do. Even when he is fucking around his stuff is amazing. And to say you knew what to expect, how could you? every song is completly diffrent. The Comon Denominator song sounds nothing like the two previus ones. The metal is way more metal, the pop is way more pop, and the dancey stuff is way more dancey. If you just mean that you knew it was all over the place the yea, but dont pretend you new what the songs would be like because very few of them sound like old Reggie songs.

ps i have had the record for weeks so I know the album.

But I am right -- so let me guess; somebody from RTB is reviewing the album or stole it from somebody who did and ripped the hell out of it?

Decent, but that is grimey as hell.

Holy crap, you need to settle down, man! Stop being such a conspiracy theory monger! Vagrant mailed the CD to Kamtin, end of story. Jesus.

Yeah alot of people actually get the record a while before it comes out. I know anyone that has anything to do with publicity gets it, all the vagrant street teamers get it and anyone who requests it from vagrant with a legitimate reason will get the promo too.

I actually like his joke songs, so if the record is how he says(some good heavy songs with some joke songs.) I'll be more than pleased.

Bands and record labels send their music to AP reviewers (and other places) in the hopes that they will provide positive promotion for them. I open up the mail for AP and can attest to the fact that these are legitimate CDs and not ripped music.

Yes same way i was supposed ot have it last week but it got sent to wrong place. Poeple who are supposed to have cds early have them early. I have the last midtown record like 3 and a half months before it was released so there are some perks in the music industry.

while it is true that the leaks are due to jackasses who are getting advances ripping them like fucking retards, i'd assume that anyone with the capability to post on the news forum is getting the albums directly from the labels, or if not, tate sends them to the people (sends the actual review cd.)

they do this because magazines are printed about a month in advance, therefore you want to have the review come out at about the same time the CD comes out.

duh.

terrible review. i have a promo copy of this album, and it is their best work to date. musically, lyrically, and all around the album is better than anything reggie has put together before.

a) Some AP.Net staffers have admitted to reviewing rips in the past.

b) This record isn't very good

c) Some kid across the hall is listening to Jpop. It sucks, and the new Reggie isn't much better.
