Personally, XII and IX were my favorites.

I just started the third disc of Final Fantasy IX a few months back before the disc crapped out on me (it refuses to load Treno). Talk about disappointing, especially since I was kicking proverbal ass in terms of stuff I had completed.

Final Fantasy VI is still my favorite with VII in a close second.

X is my favorite, followed by VII. IX comes in at 3rd I think.....and Tactics overall was fucking awesome too. I was into most FFs but not as much as those. I played the shit out of those games.

XII was a little disappointing to me. The story started off strong then it died down throughout the game. It lacked a true main character and the main villain was weak. I really loved the gameplay though.

I'm so pumped for XIII and I'm so glad its for 360. It's also the first FF for this gen of consoles. Kinda hard to believe.

The whole series has a problem with concept redundancy....
But I would say X was my favorite, and in my opinion the best. It's plot slays.
The Tactics games were really fun, too.

7 is my favorite followed by 8. Since those two I've had a real problem with finishing them

5 - I'm about halfway through, haven't touched it in years
6 - I only got a little bit in before I stopped (but to be fair, I was in college then and really didn't play many video games)
9 - I'm probably 2/3rds of the way through, didn't really like this one
10 - I'm about halfway, haven't played in a couple years
12 - Probably about halfway too, I last played this over the summer so I still have hope of finishing this one. Bathlier is the man in this one.

I love VII, but it's been overrated throughout the years. I haven't really played anything since VIII though because I think Square Enix took the series a bad direction and I really honestly stopped playing video games. Not enough time. Love the series though.

Funniest moment I ever saw involving with this series was my friend who was obsessed with Final Fantasy X. There was apparently a quest that gets you some sort of sweet item that involved cataloguing every enemy in the game, and because he was an uber completionist, he had to do it. One enemy (I think it was a Cactaur of some sort) only came out after dodging lightning in this one area 100 times straight.

Anyways, my friend was trying it over at my house in high school with my friend watching when I went to bed at 3 am. I got up at 10 am and he was still doing it, with my friend watching still. He finally did it at roughly 10:30 am. That's dedication. These games bring the crazy out in my friend.

IX is my favorite, loved the return to the more "traditional" roots. I've put a shitton of hours into XII though. Kefka is tight shit compared to a lot of the villains. I mean come on, just look at him. I still dig Tactics though. I won't be a homer Thunder God Cid fan though, seeing as my favorite character in that game was Beowulf because I loved his skills.

Haha I've been doing the same thing. Going to work my way through the first few as I never got to play them.

The soundtracks are so good to these games as well. IX is criminally underrated, though my favorite would probably be a toss up between VIII and X.

I didn't care for XII but I'll probably end up replaying it and beating it once I'm through with III-VI.

I generally post all FFXIII based news in the video game thread, but I'll do it in here too. There's a new trailer (http://na.square-enix.com/ff13/) out with game play footage and subs everyone should check out. The battles may not flow as much as the previous trailers or have extreme angles (that may only be in overclock mode though), but it's still awesome. Not a big fan of the design of the character with red hair, but I read he's only a NPC or temporary.

Easily enough for story lovers to play through the game over and over again.

New Advent Children Complete trailer (http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/01/29/advent-children-complete-trailer-is-completely-gorgeous/) is out. It has about 25 minutes extra footage for anyone considering buying it. I will definitely be importing to get the FFXIII demo.

The only reason I don't use my emulator as much is because of the keyboard. Using the controller is a cool idea. I'll eventually get a DS when the DSi is out because they'll be cheaper, or when Chrono Trigger comes out in Aus.

I was a big fan of KH2 and thought the combat system was improved a lot compared to the first. I like that Versus XIII will be using a similar system as well. His points are valid though with exploration of worlds, there's not a lot to do in them and only a few areas in each one. I can't wait for the new games coming out though.

I don't agree with most of his points either. I prefer a more in-depth game rather than something simplified.

hahah, nice. if you set your gambits right, you can pretty much let the whole fight go on auto-pilot, except i think i was in the 80's when i did it. do you have the zodiac spear?

it's still possible to get it, though highly unlikely. but yeah, the same thing happened to me, and then i gave up on trying to get it the other way. i wish i could find my game disc.. out of all the major things, omega's all i have left, but i have a few little things left to do, too.

yeah, i mean like what do you have for each person on the license board, weapons and abilities. although it's completely possible to have every license for every character at this point, i refrained from doing that.

i haven't played in a while, but the last i remember i was levelling in giruvegan and the subterra (umbra, penumbra and abyssal) of the pharos. and i personally prefer to do it with one person alone with an embroidered tippet on, because then each individual character levels faster, and i'm all about instant gratification, haha.

haha i always stick basch with axes and hammers, too. i have all of the weapons/armour bought for everyone, but i thought it'd get kind of boring if EVERYONE could heal, dispel, haste, raise, bubble, etc.

For some reason, I always follow a strict guideline to forming my characters in Final Fantasy XII. I know I should go all out and fill up the liscense board to further strengthen my characters, but I find it more interesting giving them each specific jobs.

when i was still going through the storyline, i kept all the armour/weapons job-specific, but after i finished that, i bought all of the weapons licenses for everyone, but still kept the abilities/augments job-specific. haha, but i never employed any logic in deciding who would be what. i didn't go by their stats or anything.

Well, it definitely makes leveling and stuff significantly easier toward the end if you have everything. Going into the Henne Mines alone you just have to set sleepga on undead/auto-haste/curaja on undead and you will level crazy quick.

Well, I have always been a huge huge fan of hers. Always my highest level. Seeing her at all was fantastic. At the point they came in, I didn't think I would see Barret, Cid, or Yuffie at all.

I'm a fan as well, except for when she steals your materia in FFVII. I wasn't expecting her to be in Crisis Core either, that was a surprise. The Bahamut fight was one of my favourite parts of the movie, because of all the other cast showing up. She did look awesome when she runs up the building and throws her shuriken.

I agree, VII is definitely my favourite. The first time I played it, I completed it in too short a time. I'm replaying it now at 82 hours and I'm at Midgar. Such a great game.

Apparently KH:358/2 Days will be released on August 31, but it's not confirmed. I'm far more excited about Birth By Sleep though and the new characters introduced from the secret trailer in KH2.

In X-2 the battle system was fun actually I loved the dress sphere system I liked the game play. The story....oh my god... was horrid.

Yeah, 358/2 is for the DS and Birth By Sleep the PSP. There's also another one called Coded for the mobile phone already released in Japan. I doubt it'll be released anywhere else though. Nothing has been said about KH3 yet either, not until the other games are out I'm guessing. It'll definitely be a next gen title though and probably remain exclusive to PS3.

I agree with you, although, I didn't like that only certain races could have certain job classes... and the whole judging thing was a little annoying. Oh, and the fact that no one would crystallize. The main thing that bothered me in the original Final Fantasy Tactics was that once you got T.G. Cid the game became too easy.

ive played VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, and XII. I thought XI was pointless since it was a mmo. My favorite is IX though, i thought zidane, Vivi, and Steiner were freakin amazing and the story was fun too.

I didnt really like XII very much, i had to step away from it for months at a time so that i wouldnt get too tired of it. But really though, all the characters are practically the same once you are a high enough level so it doesnt really matter who is in your party

True, that and after you get some new good recruits. It does get a bit boring after you can beat every team by about 10 goals. It was fun beating the Luca Goers at the start of the game though, I was pretty proud of myself. Hopefully 13 will incorporate some kind of mini-game.

There are plenty of great character moments in V. It was a step back from the large ensemble that was introduced in IV, but some of the interactions between the four (well, five) main party members in V are classic even if the writing took a backseat to the excellent job system.

Supposedly Advent Children Complete (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/rumor-advent-children-complete-gets-us-release-in-june/) for blu-ray is coming to the US on June 7, doesn't say if the FFXIII sneak peek is the demo or just a trailer. It's meant to have extra content though and a short animated film.

Another update. A new Dissidia (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47585.html) trailer is out. I think most of it is from the opening sequence, which has been out for a while. For anyone wondering, it should be out on August 30 overseas.
