The Billboard Challenger is a rock-reggae band from Burlington, Vermont. The band was formed in November, 2009, but the members weren't strangers to making music together. John and Kris had been making music for years stemming back to high school. Dan and Kris had also been making music for a while playing in a well known local band Maui in Ithaca. Challenger came to be when John moved back to Burlington the fall of 2009. John had been working on a group of songs for years and when he had enough material, he contacted Kris and they began structuring the songs. In January, 2010 they recorded there first three songs as a duo. For the first three recordings, John recorded the bass tracks. At this point, they knew if they wanted to start playing shows that they needed a bassist. Kris contacted Dan and the trio was formed in February, 2010. Going from practicing with just guitar and drums, to being able to start the formation of a rock steady rhythm was the pivotal change in the bands progress. They instantly got to work figuring out their sound. While demoing and recording songs, Challenger has began indulging in local shows, enjoying the chance to play anywhere they can. They are currently finishing up their first independently produced album being recorded at KTR recordings in Burlington, Vermont. If you get a chance, make sure you catch one of their energetic live shows!
