Show Review: La Dispute, Balance & Composure, All Get Out, Sainthood Reps, Silver Snakes
April 5 @ Chain Reaction (Anaheim, CA)

As writers, we’re told to avoid first person and contractions – it comes off as amateur and unprofessional. I subscribe to the rule pretty heavily, but I could care less at the moment. I had an absolute blast at the Wildlife tour, and I’d like to excitedly rant about how much fun it was.

There’s no need for in-depth explanations for what was so enjoyable; these are all buzzing bands, who all have great releases, and are all known for their live shows. The package...[read more]

I find the lack of description of La Dispute's set kind of funny.

Sounded like a great night. I went to this last night in San Diego and while it was fun, the crowd straight sucked. I was really impressed by All Get Out.

I picked up a B&C hoodie and the acoustic 7" tour press. I thought $10 was a bit expensive for just a 7", but I bought it anyhow.

I felt the same way about All Get Out. Their set was just so professional, so precise. Great, great band.

Which venue was it at? Soma?

I'm not remotely kidding when I say the first draft of this review said "Oh, and La Dispute was fucking awesome."

hahaha. I mean of course they were. I think they're a lot better live than they are recorded.

Haha, since we're on the subject, my longform analysis of La Dispute is that Jordan Dreyer is the everyman. That guy awkwardly flails around on stage while staying strangely in time with every knee jerk and elbow swing - he's exactly what we all wish we could be. More importantly, he almost always performs with a smile on his face.

Combine that with legitimate talent, and you've got a guy who could inspire movements.

EDIT: If that's what I think longform analysis is, I should avoid writing a thesis.

It was at Che Cafe. The crowd had no energy for any of the bands except for La Dispute, which disappointed me, especially during B&C. It was also filled with annoying fan-girls who spent a good amount of their time taking pictures of Jordan while LD were setting up.

I was there last night as well, I can confirm that the crowd sucked.

How's that venue sound wise? I've never been. Usually when I'm down there it's for Soma and carne asada fries.

It was $5 in Omaha. Probably because of the smaller market, still pretty shitty to do though.

Glad we can agree on that. I was kind of expecting it though.

The venue's sound is pretty solid for a tiny DIY venue, in my opinion. You should definitely go sometime. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite venues.

Definitely, but oh well. B&C are one of my favorite bands, so I'll happily support them.

Saw La Dispute when they toured with Thrice and was really impressed. Would love to go to this tour in Richmond, VA but doubt I will be able to since it's on a Wednesday, a 2 hour drive, and I have work early in the morning.

Might just have to suck it up and go haha.
