Two and a half awesome blogging.
Two and a half awesome blogging.
09/05/08 at 06:22 PM by Julia Conny
A very good friend of mine, Katherine, is an awesome blogger. I don't mean this in the kitschy, I-think-I-need-to-blog-about-this way, or the I-blog-because-I'm-actually-really-cool-on-the-Internet way. Well, maybe I do, but it's a good thing. She's a wonderful writer, and her posts are always hilarious and exploratory of subjects like public transportation, feminism, crafting (my favorite!), music (also my favorite!), and, well, blogging. She never ceases to make me giggle with her 1) sharp wit and 2) outrageous outbursts. I was reading a recent post about her watching the RNC, sipping whiskey in her parent's kitchen, and had to laugh. While whiskey is cool (like, on the rocks), I know she wasn't really sipping whiskey in her parent's kitchen. Or maybe she was and that new job of hers has brought her higher levels of after-work relaxation and/or higher levels of acquired sophistication. She did introduce me to wine in a juice box.

No matter - watching the RNC and cringing at the frustrating and aggravating rhetoric of the Republican Party would bring anyone to slosh at some numbing juice. Which is why, the other night, my friend John and I decided to put on Clerks II instead of watch the festivities. Screw that, we said. Why leave the night angry and political when we could have a good laugh? I had never seen the sequel. Plus, he doesn't have cable at his new house, and the only other programming on his five channels were Two and a Half Men re-runs. What we would have done during the down time? The changeovers from one archaic conservative speech to the next? Screw that. The choices weren't exactly working in our favor.

I think I am going to go watch a movie and relax. Laundry is washing, storm is coming, and I'd like to clear my head.
