Woop! After about 3 years of using the site (2 as an active poster), I get a nice bold name and a big avatar. It's nice.
Anyway, end of university term is this Friday. Which means workworkworkwork. Better get cracking!

Saosin - In Search of Solid Ground
Fightstar - Be Human
Taking Back Sunday - New Again
Disappointments of 2009:
Can't really think of any haha . Arguably Saosin should be in here because I had such massive expectations. ISOSG is a decent rock album not really what I was hoping for. May come back to this at a later date. Other than that,I heard an Of Machines song prior to the release of their album and thought they might put out a good album. However when I heard it, musical immaturity, baaad mixing (so compressed) and my ever decreasing fascination with the sing/scream formula meant it wasn't a hit in my books.Enter Shikari probably belong on here too. Whilst Common Dreads is not a bad album (albeit, there are some rocky moments on there), it's not what I was hoping for.

|Relient K > All Time Low

|The video of Relient K performing a new song live has reminded me just how much I love this band. It has also reminded me how under-rated they are. Particularly when compared to one of their counterparts in the genre.|
Relient K completely blow All Time Low out of the water. RK have more meaningful lyrics, better musicianship, a LOT more variety and yet lack the recognition and status of ATL. I don't even hate All Time Low - I admit some of their songs are very catchy but some of their lyrics are just awful. Relient K are far more deserving of recognition.
But seriously, more people need to listen to this band. Go on. You might be surprised how much you like them.

What's up with us?
Seems like forever... Sorry for that. I guess I'm just going to dive right in. The story goes something like this:
Toured our butts off for 3 years, and on what was gonna be our very last tour, because to be honest we just couldn't afford it anymore, Jimmy Ryan came along. For those of you who've had the opportunity to meet Mr. Ryan you know what a great guy he is, and he believed in us and wanted to sign us to our dream label tooth and nail. Two months after that tour we were in Florida recording a fire so big... Then back to touring, and what seemed to be a tough break every time we were on the road. On our very first tour after making the album, the headlining band we were out with broke up in the middle of the tour out in california, leaving us 2000 miles from home and broke, and it seemed like this set the tone for the next year. Honestly though, we didn't have it much worse than most bands, we were just burnt out, or at least I was. We racked up quite a debt, and I decided to stop touring for a while. Jim wanted to be on the road, so he started playing with some friends, and the rest of us slowy, started writing the next album. It just wasn't coming together, so, we just stopped working on stuff. Adam and I got married soon after that (no, not to each other, hah). And that's really where we've left search the city since. Adam has been working on his solo stuff called "the rescue letter", Alex and Spoony started a new project called "Like Flaming Globes" and Jim and I, who hadn't spoken for a while have started working on a project, and we're really excited about it.
Nobody hates anyone, we're all still friends, and I think we might go on a bike ride together this weekend:) We're not really sure what we'll do with stc in the future, time will tell. I'm sorry to everyone who's been waiting for us, and I can't tell you how much we miss you all. Thanks for all the support we definitely don't deserve. God bless.
Josh pretty much covered all the key points that led to our grand disappearing act. We are all still musically active and still talk so we haven't lost the two things that brought this band together: music and friendship. The state of the band has left much to miss, however, we are all pretty stoked to pursue new musical directions and chapters of our lives.
Besides working as a full time freelance artist under the moniker Match & Kerosene, Jim Baird (aka Spoonie) and I are playing in a new band called Like Flaming Globes. It's very Cave-In, Thrice, and Dredg influenced. If what I just wrote rocks your core, we are looking for a singer. If you are interested, download our demos (see below) and send a track with your voice over them to LFGlobes@gmail.com along with some info about yourself.
Songs 1-5 (Unmixed, Unmastered)
Songs 6-7 (Record live with no bass > these are BRUTAL demos for 2 very new songs)
Good luck guys. I wish you all the best.

|...anyone know what's going on with these guys? |
The above is a solid album. Sure, it's not groundbreaking or the most original thing around but it remains highly enjoyable. I've probably not gone a week since I bought it without giving it a spin.
I would very much like new tunes from these guys but all seems to be quiet on the front...
Anyone in the know!?

|How the hell did I manage to miss this band? I've seen their name thrown around so many places over the years yet I've never attempted to get into them until all this excitement about the Clarity tour started bubbling over. So I bought Futures.|
And boy, have I been missing something.
Such a powerful sound. Sure, its a bit poppy in places. But damn, is it good.
