Thanks for the criticism so far

It really has helped. You, spear and art all have helped me out immensely.

I just posted a new poem when you get the chance to look at it.

It's my second of many attempts at metaphorical/free verse type poems i'd like to write.

Remember before we were friends on this site? and we discovered each other in some wayward kid's poetry thread as fellow lit majors? How awesome was that?

We'll have to agree to disagree, then.

I love Dylan so much.

Seriously, though, go read the lyrics to "Desolation Row" if you haven't. So awesome. Plus there's the name-checking of Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot that makes me giggle like a three-year-old every time.

You're not a Dylan fan?!

Listen to "Desolation Row" while reading the lyrics (which you can find on Dylan's website) and then tell me you aren't a Dylan fan.

Awesome! I'll check it out. I'm currently reading "The Dynamics Of Faith" by Tillich--which is dense but fascinating--and at some point on my dad's recommendation will be reading the Bible in its entirety after reading a book by Marcus Borg (the title escapes me at the present moment) about reading the Bible appropriately. In addition to all that, I'm reading Stephen Christian's book (the singer from Anberlin), which is easy to read and interesting, if only because I like his band. I'm also working with my friend, a music major, on an opera. I'm writing the libretto. I might post stuff from it, though the extensive bits are mostly dramatic monologues from different characters' viewpoints (it's an opera about faith, interestingly).

To top all THAT off...

I'm reading simultaneously William Carlos Williams' Collected Poems, The Complete Poems of Hart Crane, and The Collected Prose and Poetry of Robert Frost. I'm also teaching my dad about poetry (and in return he is teaching me about theology), which means any suggestions you may have could prove beneficial to building his poetic foundation.

So...what does your summer reading list look like? Haha.

Commented on Columbusing. Great poem, sir. Also, I posted something new as well. If you get a chance, your feedback would be wonderful.

I was looking at your favorite bands--BT? Is that Bleeding Through?

I saw the DL last year in October. He spoke on Capitol Hill, so my friends and I headed over for his speech. It was, basically, a similar thing, though more focused on Tibet than anything else at the time. It was interesting (and a bit sad) that a lot of people there were your stereotypical sandals-and-plaid-shorts-wearing college kids there to "catch the Dalai Lama, bro!" because...well, because they could. And they didn't seem to enjoy the spirituality of it. It was all about being able to say they saw the DL in person. That disgusted me. I find the DL to be my favorite of the religious leaders, though. My least favorite is probably the pope, if only because he's a flagrant dunderhead who seems content to completely eviscerate and destroy the AIDS ridden populace of Africa so he can get his precious no contraceptive agenda across. God, I hate that.

Sorry. Bit of a tangent.

I don't know if you saw my comment, but I loved your blog on the Dalai Lama and faith and such. It was a good read. And...I left my iPod behind when I went out later that evening. Just sayin'...

Trying to be thorough. Plus, I feel bad for not commenting so much earlier on. Also, I can't let you do all the involved critiques; I have things to say, too!

Hah. It's also better than doing a cue list for Arcadia, which I should be doing...fuck...

I haven't written anything of substance lately, though my blog has a lovely little lune I wrote the other day. I'm not even going to post it because it's so silly.

I think it's awesome! I love my blog. I had one on AP for awhile, but i feel like I've grown out of that, as well as out of the sort of...childish sentiments that go along with this username. So I figured I'd better represent myself using one of my favorite words (sardonic--"Sardonicus" being a portmanteau from a Cradle of Filth song that I have stolen for myself--as you'll see in the imitation--and that I think embodies a cool idea). I definitely will keep an eye on your blog, so I'm quite excited. I'll probably end up posting some poetry in mine at some point, so keep an eye out for that.

I look forward to your comments. My professor gave me about five pages' worth of narrative feedback on the poem, then proceeded to tell me that it didn't matter in terms of the assignment because the poem was a perfect fulfillment. I guess, to me, that means it transcended being an assignment and is now my own poem. I'm kind of excited about that prospect, and your feedback is always illuminating.

I'm working on some ideas right now, though most of the stuff I'm writing at the moment is in verse form. I am a sucker for sonnets, what can I say? I have one poem that started as a segment of a potential larger poem, but I have no idea where I want to go with it. I'll probably throw that into the blog and up on here at some point.

I love blogs. I look forward to yours, in particular.

Yeah. I uploaded the document with the poem and endnotes to the original post of that. Eliot imitation may it be, I'd also like to think that I have crafted a standalone work of art that merely bears the influence of Eliot in its construction.

I look forward to your comments. I feel bad that i don't have time to give detailed commentary on your stuff, but I will indeed provide some as this semester winds down and, if all else fails, I will definitely be a more prolific poster and commenter come summer.

For my poetry class, I have to write another imitation...

And I'm doing Eliot.

It's probably all sorts of insane to even think of attempting, but I've got a good start, I think. Get excited to see the final version, which I will definitely be posting here.

Absolutely. I think the last song on it is one of the best pop-punk songs ever written.

The poem may or may not come together, but I do have fodder for writing for awhile. Blech. I'm not going to tell you about it because it wouldn't be any fun, then, to try and discern it from the reading of poetry, heh.
