Pomplamoose just finished a 28-day tour. We played 24 shows in 23 cities around the United States. It was awesome: Nataly crowd surfed for the first time ever, we sold just under $100,000 in tickets, and we got to rock out with people we love for a full month. We sold 1129 tickets in San Francisco at the Fillmore. I’ll remember that night for the rest of my life.
One question that our fans repeatedly asked us was “what does it feel like to have ‘made it’ as a band?” Though it’s a fair question to ask of a band with a hundred million views on YouTube, the thought of Pomplamoose having “made it” is, to me, ridiculous.
i remember hearing this daft punk “human after all” remix and later a rage against the machine one (killing in the name of, you should check this if you can- so good)…. i knew nothing of the creator at the time- sebastiAn- a french dj/producer on ed banger records… his music made me think and feel different like the way punk rock did when i first heard it. we began a correspondence through email…. my friend brian hiatt tweeted “the problem with modern rock is it isnt modern”- something i and we had been feeling in general. rock should not be relegated to a quaint little corner of guitar center for dads to find. in reaching...
Another unjust outcome from an unjust system. Jim Crowe didn’t die in the 1960’s, it just took on a new form. And the lessons that America should have learned from the Rodney King incident went right over the country’s head. In the many years of struggle against racism in the U.S., there is still much work to be done. The U.S. legal system is a microcosm of a wider society that discriminates against people who are not white, a society that is drowning in an epidemic of police violence against people of color. In incident after incident, excessive force and murder by American police is used as an on the...
Physically entering the rehab facility was one of the most terrifying yet rewarding things I have ever done. Getting onstage and playing in front of tens of thousands of people used to be the most frightening thing for me, but getting the help I knew I needed made that look relaxing. During my 31 plus days of treatment, I learned a lot about myself and a lot about what I needed to do to never go back down that path I had been stumbling upon.
Head to the replies to see the trailer for Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Make sure to check out the thread in our Entertainment Forum, where I assume everyone is discussing Chris Pratt's leather vest.
Here are the albums that are in stores today. Pick up anything good? What do you recommend? If we missed anything, please add it to our calendar. We recommend Rdio or Spotify for album streams of new releases and check out our review section to see what our staff thought of the albums.
My hope is that moving forward this division of brands will help to make things less confusing as I hope to continue writing and releasing music under my name (and am currently recording a record in that sense) and also to writing and release more records that are followups to TW&TB. With all of this in mind, I decided to release this current EP under The Modern Post primarily because, while it does contain some classic Christmas carols, one of the primary purposes in recording it was to serve local churches with new arrangements of these songs.
